Painful memories disguised as dreams rushed through Annabelle's mind like flying knives, piercing her heart and poisoning it. She hated to remember the good times she had with her family, mainly because those days were the happiest days of her life and she really missed her family. After she cut all ties with them, Annabelle only sometimes actually smiled and felt happy, but most of the times, her happiness was fake. Anyone who knew her better could tell, that she wasn't really happy, but that only person was Diana, and she wasn't around right now. So Annabelle cried silently, hiding under her covers away from reality. Even her world, that she made up long ago wasn't sunny anymore. Nowadays, it only rained.
She sat up and looked through her window, rain dripping down the glass.
At least I'm not the only one that's crying today.
More than ever, Annabelle wished to feel the same warm arms surround her and pull her in a hug, a just like her mother used to do whenever she was sad. Both mothers. But there wasn't anyone around to do that, and she had to remind herself that it was mainly her fault for pushing people away and hiding her true feelings.
She wiped her tears and got up to go to the bathroom. There, she looked at herself in the mirror. The two days without sleep and food were clearly shown on her face. Her eyes were swollen and red, pain clearly displayed in them, her hair was all over the place and greasy, the blue color slightly turning in to black. But the worst part was her body. She was already very skinny, but now you could clearly see her bones, that were covered by pale/gray skin. The last schizophrenia seizure took a lot out of her.
Annabelle splashed cold water on her face and went to the kitchen to get something to eat, even though she had a feeling, that she will vomit everything out right away. The fridge was full, though half of the food was already pass expiration date. Nothing looked good to her, so she simply sat down by the table and started to eat an apple. In the middle of the process, Annabelle stood up and put on some music, so the silence would disappear. Right now, she couldn't stand it. It only reminded her of that night. Everything reminded her of that night.
If anyone saw me right now, they would be shocked.
She thought to herself and chuckled. Everyone she knew were used to see her as a strong person, without a worry in the world. Annabelle wanted them to think that. More than herself, she hated weak people. But just like any other human being, she still had feelings and she was still hurt. She also cried and she could also be weak. That's why today, she hated herself more than ever.
Still listening to the pleasant music, Annabelle heard another sound, coming from her bedroom. She quickly ran there and answered the phone.
- Hello?
- Are you alright? Did the killer get you?? - a worried voice came from the other end. Annabelle smiled, realizing the caller.
- What are you talking about, Diana?
- Didn't you hear? Someone found a dead body near your home today. It looks like the victim was from our high school.
- Name?
- Sarah.... something. I don't remember, - she quickly blabs out.
- Sarah Fulton? - Annabelle ask, going to the living room and turning on the television.
- Yeah, you know her?
- She was in my math class. One of the biggest bitches I have ever encountered. Serves her right.
- Ohh, yeah, I remember. She once poured beer over your head, right? Yeah, she definitely deserves that. Don't tell me you killed her? - Diana chuckles.
