Chapter 40: The End

I walked past Casey and Leo to the elevators to go back to our room. Once I was in my room, I immediately broke down on the floor crying. It hurts and I didn't even know that I was hurt this much until I finally saw him. I didn't even cry this much 3 years ago when he just ghosted me. Knowing what I know now and see him explain it and tell me that he never stopped loving me, is just another pain I have to deal with. I heard the door behind me open and close and I knew it was Casey. She sits on the floor next to me and brings me to her chest as I kept crying.

"You girls are ready to say goodbye to Miami and hello to Italy?" My mother says excitedly as we walkout of our hotel room. "Yes!" Says Casey excitedly. "Are you feeling better Kat?" My mother says as she takes my hand into hers. "Yup, I'm ready for Italy and nonna's food." "Me too!" My mum says with the brightest smile on her face. "So, you and Leo?" I ask Casey as we sit in the lounge while our mom is checking out of the hotel at the reception. "We just hung out, here and there." "No making out?" "Not even a kiss." "I'm impressed that you kept it together." "Trust me, he is a friend material." "Is he though?" I said looking behind her. Leo was standing outside the hotel passing back and forth with flowers in his hand. She looks where I was looking and I see her smile and she blushes. He doesn't even know we were looking at him from the inside of the glass window. "Well?" I said pushing her shoulder lightly. "I'm just going to tell him off." "Okay, whatever you say." I said and she rolls her eyes at me while walking away to the front doors of the hotel. I watch closely at Leo who was just about to walk into the hotel but bumps into Casey. Both of them say something and then they both blush. They were standing very awkwardly and nervously trying to avoid eye contact. Then Leo says something and gives her the flowers. She blushes again and smiles. He says something, then she says something back and then they hug. When she started to walk away, she stops and runs back to his arms, gives him a kiss on the cheek and walks away. He stood there shocked but then a big smile was on his lips and he starts to walk away. "So, a kiss on the cheek?" I said when Casey walks back in. "I only met him a day ago! That's all he's getting." "Good girl" I said followed by a chuckle. Seeing Leo and Casey like that made me smile. That one person who shows up unexpectedly and completely change you and your life. They take you by surprise and then make you feel things you've never felt before. Love that is so powerful that not only could make you the happiest person but also has the power to completely destroy you. That one person that you don't mind giving them that power because you wouldn't mind if it would destroy you at the end of it. It was a risk you're willing to take because you know you'll never experience a love like that every again.

As I sit there thinking about it. Was Carter that love for me? "Come on girls, let's go to the airport." My mother says and I look up at her. "You and Casey go first. I'll catch up." I said grabbing my back and walking towards the door. "What? Why?" My mum says walking after me. "I need to do this one thing or I'll regret it for the rest of my life." I said as I walk out of the hotel. My mom looks at me and for a second I thought she's going to disapprove but then she nods and says, "Go do what you have to do but hurry before the boarding closes." I smile at her support and starts running down the street back to where the party was the other day. Then my phone rings and it was Casey. "Leo just texted me where Carter is so I just forwarded the address to you." "Thanks Case" "Just tell him how you feel."

I took a taxi and 6 minutes later, I arrived at a garage. It was named as the Collins'. I knew it was the one that his biological father Adam probably owned. I walk into this garage and I try to find him. "Is that you Katharine?" Someone says behind me. I turn to see who it is, and of course it was Adam himself. "Yeah, its me" I said with a smile. "Wow, you've grown since the last time I've seen you." I smile politely. "Is he here?" I ask and he nods. "Just go to the back and you'll see him working on one of the cars. "Thank you Adam." "Just go." He says with a smile. I run to the back and see about four cars being. All the guys working on the cars are either under the car or under the hood so I couldn't see any faces. So, I started yelling out his name. "CARTER" This brought attention from the rest of the employees who started to look at me. "CARTER" I yell out again and still no respond. By now everyone was looking at me and some started to point at the last car. There was only one guy that was under the hood of the car that didn't even look up once. As I got closer, I saw that he was wearing headphones. So I pulled one of the headphones off. "What the hell?" He says looking up. "I've been calling out your name since forever but how loud were you playing music?" I said. He stood there shocked as he slowly removes the second headphone. "Katharine, what... What are you doing here?" He stutters. "I couldn't just leave without you knowing that I..." I stopped as I look deeply into his eyes. "Without me knowing what?" He says almost in a whisper. I swallow nervously and say, "That I am... completely... in love with you. And I don't think I ever stopped." He looks at me and I could see his eyes light up making them even bluer if that's possible and he smiles, "I love you too." I smile as he puts his hand on my cheeks and I felt the electricity that I felt the first time he ever touched me then suddenly we someone shouts, "KISS HER ALREADY" That's when I realized that everyone in the garage was staring at us and we both laugh. "Come here" And his lips finally touch mine once again. His touch, his lips completely took over my body as I felt like he was reviving me back to life. Then I hear the cheers of the people around us and when our lips finally parted, I buried my face into his chest feeling suddenly very shy. "Yeah Yeah, just go back to work." Carter says to them. They just laugh and went back doing what they were doing. I took a step back and say, "I have to go now." "No you're not." He says pulling me into a hug. He rested his chin on the top of my head and I said, "I do. Just for a couple of weeks and I'll promise I'll visit." "I'll promise I'll never disappear on you again." He says almost in a whisper. "If you say so." I said then giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Let's take you to the airport then." He says with a little disappointment in his voice.

I did end up reaching the airport just in time before the boarding on the plane closes and I ended up going to Italy for three weeks because Carter flew to me instead of me flying to him. So we stayed for another week in Italy enjoying each other's company more than ever. This time around though there was more appreciation for each other because we know how it feels not to be together. Now that I was laying on the sunbed next to the pool, I realized that I finally feel like a burden was lifted off of my chest and it feels great. I don't know if Carter and I will end up happily together for the rest of our lives or we're just going to end up breaking up. Either way, all I know is that looking at him next to me right now, playing his guitar while glancing at me with his beautiful blue eyes, he is all I want.... And of course my crazy big family who's surrounding me right now dancing along to the song Carter was playing.

My crazy journey in life will continue on and I don't know what's around the corner but I do know something for sure, these people will always have my back no matter where we are in this world.
