Giving Up

"Look! It's Mikey Way!" I heard a girl scream from the other side of Starbucks.

I gave Mikey a concerned look.

"It's fine. a few autographs and they'll leave me alone" he whispered.

Surprisingly, only the one girl asked for an autograph, and sure enough, she left him alone.

Frank, Gerard, Ray, Mikey and I all sat around a table in Starbucks. They guys had coffee but I had my usual, double chocolately chip frappichino.

It worried me knowing I had 3 days left...give or take.

The crappiest part was knowing that I'm getting taken away now that I'm finally happy. All my life I've been either average, or below average, but now I can't get any better. I'm happy. But I'll only be happy for a few more days.

You might think I'd be scared knowing I won't wake up a few mornings from now. But I'm okay with it, in the sense that I died in love.

"You okay? You haven't said anything in a while?" Frank said, snapping me out of my train of thought

"Hmmm? Oh, uh, yeah. I'm fine" I said

"You guys were, uh, quite....loud" Ray said with a chuckle.

I felt my cheeks blush with heat. I can only imagine how noticeable it is.

"Sorry" I said quietly with a giggle.

I caught Mikey smiling from the corner of my eye.

"Guys, I need to tell you something. Mikey knows, but I think it's only fair I tell you too" I started.

They all looked worryingly between me and Mikey

"The reason I was coming to the concerts, is because I wanted to make my life end happily..." I said slowly.

"End?" Gerard said quietly.

"End. I found out a week and a half ago I had two weeks to live. I have brain Cancer" I said.

"Isn't there anything they can do?!" Frank said as he started to sob loudly in the middle of Starbucks.

"No. It's too late" I said

"There must be something. We need to try!" Ray demanded.

"I'm going to die in roughly 3 days. I've excepted it. You should too" I said to them.

"Mikey! Say something!" Gerard said as he thumped the table loudly with his fist.

"There's nothing to say. I can't change this. So all I can do is love her with all my heart till the day she dies" he said

"Thank you, mikes" I said

"I can't believe you! You're just giving up on her!" Frank screamed.

I went to respond when Frank stood up and ran off to the bus. Ray and Gerard followed.

"well that went swimmingly" Mikey said sarcastically.

"No really" I said.
