I locked myself in a room and challenged myself to come up with a story based on the statement "All I wanted was a glass of water." I came up with the main story in 1 hour. So yeah - A lot of dumb stuff happen in this book. And the only reason why I didn't remove the dumb stuff is that I was too bored and lazy. The fact that the stuff fit into the broader concept of the story may have something to do with the decision too. MAY.

I wrote the first draft for the first chapter like a week ago. And well as it turns out, I like to make a lot of revisions. So after like editing the chapter for the 63rd time, I finally decided to just freaking post it, to atleast get things into motion.
