Once they arrived in Paris, the couple decided to wear dark sunglasses and clothing they would not usually wear in order to avoid France. They weren't really scared of France's wrath, as his wrath probably hurt as much as being stung by a bee, but they just wanted to avoid him. If he found out they were in his capital, he would never leave them alone. Russia had just wanted to have a romantic time with his newly public boyfriend and make their date as special as possible. But if the frog found them, it would be ruined.

After checking into the hotel Russia had booked, the couple made their way to the River Seine, where they took a stroll, admiring the prettiness of the area. It was a really nice day, but the anxiety that loomed over the couple was a bit overwhelming. Occasionally one of them would see a flash of blond, think it was France, and have a mini panic attack. Little did they know he was nowhere near the river that day.

"France is ruining this daaaattte" America whined, tugging on his boyfriend's arm like a child whose favorite toy was just taken away.

"We just need to stop being so paranoid. If we run into him we should just tell him to go away." Russia suggested with a shrug.

"It's not that easy! If he finds us he's going to annoy us mercilessly." America complained, looking up at his boyfriend with a pout on his lips.

"Take your mind off of him for one second! Why don't we do something else? How about a little trip to a cafe and then a stroll through the Louvre?" the Russian suggested. Russia desperately wanted to waste time before their actual date began. He had planned a really romantic date and he was excited, but he had to spend the first half of the day avoiding France before it actually began.

"That sounds lovely." America responded with a smile. Russia smiled back and intertwined his fingers with the American's as they made their way off of the river path and back onto the beautiful Parisian roads. They spent a few minutes walking before stumbling onto a cute cafe that smelt like vanilla and coffee. Before walking in, America made sure to duck behind one of the many bike racks to make sure France wasn't in the cafe. Russia rolled his eyes but chuckled as he pulled his boyfriend up from the ground and dragged him into the cafe.

Sitting down at a little table in the back corner of the cafe, they both ordered some coffee and a few stereotypical French pastries to make it feel like the true authentic "Paris experience". Chatting over macaroons and warm cappuccinos, the couple decided to go back to the hotel after a visit to the Louvre. Russia had explained that he had a few plans for the night and America just went along with it, his adventurous spirit making anything Russia tried to plan feel easy.

After an hour or so at the little cafe, the couple decided to walk to the famous art museum, hoping to god that they wouldn't see France at one of his favorite hang-out spots. As they walked down the beautiful Parisian streets, they stopped and admired some of the architecture and quirky things about the city that made it unique.

It was walking to the Louvre when they finally spotted the man they were so keen on avoiding. America spotted the back of France's head when they were only five minutes away from the museum. The couple had been discussing some of the cute shops they had passed when America suddenly shrieked in surprise. America had spotted the golden locks crossing the street towards one of the many monuments of the city. They had been behind him and France obviously didn't see them so they decided to stop for a moment, curious as to what Francis was doing walking around the city.

Russia noticed a white rose in the Frenchman's hand as he approached the monument. The couple watched on in curiosity as France placed the white rose at the base of the statue. It wasn't until France stepped back that they noticed what monument it was. America and Russia's hearts both ached as they realized who that golden statue was for. It was Joan. Joan of arc.

As Russia and America watched on with heartbrokenness, France crossed the street and made his way back to wherever he had come from. The couple stood in silence for a moment, reading the engraved Jeanne d'arc on the monument as they processed what they just saw.

"Well that was depressing." America finally spoke up, looking at his boyfriend with a sad look on his face.

"He still loves her." Russia muttered simply, his violet eyes still glued on the statue.

"I'm sure he just likes to pay a little visit once in a while." America said, looking up at his boyfriend.

"I guess.. but you never witnessed it. He misses her. You can tell." Russia explained, looking down at his oblivious boyfriend. Russia still could barely comprehend how America hadn't even been around when Jeanne was alive.

"Well I'm glad he didn't see us. That would've been awkward." America said with a laugh, reaching down to hold Russia's hand. Russia nodded in agreement and took one last somber look at the statue before continuing his walk with America.

~Time Skip~

It was finally 7pm and Russia was excited to begin their actual date. The Louvre had been beautifully fascinating, so they had taken their time walking through it. Though France himself was kind of a wackadoo, they both couldn't help but admit that his city and culture were beautiful. When they finally got back to the hotel, Russia shoved a black suit into the American's arms and told him to change. Russia had gotten changed into a similar outfit and was waiting for him by the hotel door, a little nervous for the night to come. When America stepped out from the bathroom, looking suave as hell, Russia couldn't help but start blushing.

"So dude.. What's the plan? What kind of date do you have planned for us tonight? There's no way it can top my New York extravaganza." America boasted jokingly, a huge dopey smile on his face.

"Let's just say it's going to be a night of firsts."

AHH ok so filler chapter and all... We will get to the actual date in the next chapter! Sorry for being a tease. Anyway! If you haven't read it already, I just published a Rusame one-shot called "Sweater Weather" if you want to read. To those of you who already read it, thank you a lot! I loved your comments and I love you because you're all mad cool. I promise the lemon will come soon, so will some things involving a certain bushy-eyed fellow... so watch out friends! I know I said the book would end in a few chapters but I'm starting to think more like 6-7 instead of 3-4... maybe even 10... who the heck knows. not me. Anyway, thank you so much for reading! Hope you enjoyed <3 (also hope you don't mind the France Jeanne thing..... thought I'd just make my heart shatter a little bit while I'm at it)
