The Baby Isle.

Percy never thought he'd find himself in the baby isle of David Jones so soon in his life. Annabeth had sent him looking for some pre baby essentials. Grover, who was ecstatic about the whole 'We're gonna be father buddies' situation, was over shopping for his little munchkin. There were several other women also shopping around, they were either eyeing him up or looked disapprovingly at how young he was. Finally Percy found the suction cup bowl Annabeth had been talking about. Percy couldn't help thinking that maybe he needed one of these too, considering how many plates he broke on a daily basis.

Percy found Grover and made a break for the cashier. Although he was thrilled about the baby he was still quite uncomfortable with actually doing 'dad' things and being around judgemental people. Once he and Grover were out of the store they went for coffee, although Grover usually stuck to tea. It was good to finally catch up with him, they chatted about Juniper and Uni and Annabeth's recovery until Grover's phone alarm went off, signalling the swapping of baby watching shifts and the end to their hang out.

'Well, I gotta go buddy,' Grover got up from his chair grabbing his shopping bags, 'Juniper has yoga class in 30 minutes so I gotta get back.'

'Totally get it bro,' Percy smiled, embracing Grover in an extremely masculine hug.

Grover began to back away, he pointed at Percy, 'You're gonna be a dad man!' before turning around and walking to his car grinning like a fool.

Those words echoed in Percy's head as he rode the subway back to University. He never liked to drive his car in New York because of all the traffic, he really only used it on road trips out of the city.

An elderly woman sat next to him, humming a tune as sat waiting for their stop. Percy caught her looking into his bag several times.

Finally the woman smiled a smile of few teeth, 'New baby?'

'Yep, coming soon,' he chuckled fiddling with Annabeth's ring.

The woman turned so she  could look him in the eye, 'It's the best thing that'sm gonna happen to you, boy.' She had thick New York accent which comforted Percy slightly. As the train pulled up at her stop, her smile stuck as she walked along the platform to the stairs.

After a brisk walk to Annabeth's dorm in the Autumn air Percy ran up the flights of stairs to her dorm. He knocked twice, even though he had a key he knew it was still a lot for Annabeth to adjust to everything, so he decided privacy was the least he could give her. He could hear her hurry to get the door, he then heard a crash as she knocked over something. There were some curses tossed about until she finally unlocked the door. Annabeth, despite her average size, was still dwarfed by Percy's height. Making her look up at him quite often, although she denied it.

She looked up at him then, smiling, 'Hi.'

'Hi,' He said, returning the smile before leaning down to kiss her. Annabeth hummed into the kiss, leaning into Percy before grabbing the front of his jacket and pulling him inside. There were books on the ground, obviously what she'd knocked over, Annabeth rushed over to pick them up, struggling to bend over. Percy dropped his bags off on the kitchen counter before hurrying over to her to help.

'Thanks Perce you're actually a life saver,' She said softly.

Percy knew how frustrating it was for Annabeth to be restricted from certain movements and all together her old lifestyle so he tried not to draw attention to the things she struggled with.

'No worries, I got the stuff you wanted by the way,' He smiled, stacking her books on her shelf and walking back to the bags. 'We have a suction bowl, blue and grey flannel blanket, nipple cream,' He quirked an eyebrow, making Annabeth laugh, 'a couple books, hair ties for you and a certain tea Grover insisted on me buying to help with morning sickness.'

'How thoughtful of him,' Annabeth chuckled, putting the tea in the pantry with her growing collection from Grover.

Percy knew it was a bit early to start buying all these things, heck they hadn't even told his mom yet, but he knew it was part of Annabeth's nature to be prepared.

'Oh and I called your mom today,' Annabeth said, as if reading his mind, 'We're gonna have lunch with her this week at some point to you know... tell her and all'

Percy smiled as Annabeth walked over to him, 'That's great sweetheart,' he said quietly, brushing Annabeth's curls, which were now just below her shoulders, behind her ears. 'She's gonna be so thrilled, I can't wait.' He smiled, pulling Annabeth in for a kiss.
