Percy POV.
It had been weeks since the accident. I had visited Annabeth everyday though. Morning and night. Her room was beginning to fill with flowers and 'Get Well Soon!' cards and balloons. No one tended to the flowers except me. Her bruises started to fade and her skin brightened. After a couple days I ended up putting the ring on her finger, for strength I told myself but mainly, I wanted to make sure she got to wear it. Everything was going alright, she was healing and it looked like the worst had passed.
Grover had finally settled down into parenthood and brought Flint to my apartment where he would usually crawl to Annabeth's side of the bed which I didn't mind if I were babysitting for them, Flint usually slept over those nights. I would bring him to the hospital as well on some of those nights, Annabeth always loved little Flint. He would try to talk to her and played with the balloons. It gave the room life when the kid was there.
It wasn't until I had gotten out of the pool one afternoon that brought true excitement back into my life. I was just towelling down when my phone began to ring. Ruth's ID came up on the screen. The photo was of her and Annabeth smiling on a beautiful sunny but windy day, I felt a pain in my chest seeing her smiling and debated not answering. I ended up answering, not to be rude.
'Hello?'
'Percy! Guess what you have no idea what I just found out!' She squealed into the receiver.
'Alright just give me a sec to sit down-' I sat on the wooden bench next to my belongings, water dripping onto the tiles, 'Okay, Shoot.'
'Okay so well I was with Annabeth today and you know just doing stuff, talking to her etc... and a doctor come in, right? And guess what he says!'
'What?'
'Guess!'
'I dunno just tell me!' I said getting frustrated.
'Okay okay! He- He said they were planning on waking her up tomorrow!'
I shot up from the bench.
'Really? Like you being serious here this better not be a flippin joke, Tomorrow? like what time tomorrow I need to be there!'
'It's not a joke Perc, 12 pm tomorrow. She'll be back with us! I actually can't believe it! She's coming back Perc'
'I really, just can't believe it Ruth, I have to do some stuff so... I'll see you tomorrow, we'll be talking to her tomorrow I can't believe it.'
'Alright Percy, I understand see you tomorrow, with Annabeth'
I walked out of the community pool with a little bounce in my step.
I could hardly sleep that night. I kept rolling over to Annabeth's side to try and make up for her absence. Then I'd end up feeling bad for imprinting on her memory foam pillow and roll back to my side. This happened multiple times until eventually I just put a photo of Annabeth on her side and fell asleep looking into her paper grey eyes.
As I made my way around our room in the morning I realised just how much of a mess I'd made. There were clothes strewn everywhere. Annabeth had kind of kept me in line with cleaning. I'd do some rooms while she was at College and she's clean some whilst I was giving swimming lessons and attending the occasional class or two. Running around the room grabbing shirts and shorts which I just ended up throwing in the washing machine. I chuckled imagining the conversation when she saw it. Yes Annabeth, I have been doing the laundry, Frequently.
9 o'clock. I have to do stuff until 12 o'clock. Great.
Ruth's POV.
It was totally crazy, Annabeth was waking up today. I ended up watching reruns of some my favourite movies until 11:30. Now I'm stuck in traffic, something tells me it's only gonna get worse throughout the day. I finally see the turn-off to the hospital after moving the speed of a snail for 15 or 20 minutes. I quickly turned on my right blinker and got off the main road. There was hardly any traffic the rest of the way and as I rolled into the parking lot I was practically jumping out of my skin. Checking my watch I walk up to the main desk. 11:45.
'Hi Ruth how's things?' The boy at the desk asks, I've been coming in a lot and he's learnt my name. He's kinda cute too.
'Good, good here to see Annabeth, She's waking up today!' I said smiling.
'That's great. I'll open the doors for you.'
As he said that the doors into the main hospital opened. I walked through leaving the small white waiting room behind me.
I broke into a run, dis obeying the 'No running' Signs until I was at Annabeth's door. There were a few other people in the room. I quickly opened the door and stood with them.
'Hi Ruth, How's things?' Asked Annabeth's blonde cousin Malcolm. He is basically like a brother to her.
'Good, Good. I'm really excited' I said bouncing slightly.
My text message went off just as the doctor walked into the room.
Percy: Stuk in Traffic, tell Annabeth I love her.
Ruth: Will do.'Well, Ladies and gentlemen, Annabeth will be with us any minute, please give her space. Her parents should be the first to see her.'
Several friends and I trudged out the room frustrated we had to wait. I caught a glimpse just as the doors closed of Annabeth slowly waking up.
The twenty minutes were torture but Eventually the doctor came back followed by Annabeth's crying but smiling parents in the room and called me out of the group. I shot up quickly. Percy was still stuck, he'd be so annoyed.
Annabeth was sitting up smiling when I walked in.
'Ruth! I can't believe what happened, are you okay? Is everyone okay?' She said a concerned frown forming on her face.
'Yeah, we're all fine I've got all your classes covered at College and all-' my phone went off again.
Percy: Nearly there, how is she?
I shot him a quick text
she's fine worried about classes. My phkne vibrated almost immediately which made me smile.
Percy: Of course tell her I love her.
'Who's that? Is it your Boyfriend?' I looked up at her ring finger to see the ring Percy got her was gone.
'It was Percy actually he's stuck in traffic. He told me to tell you that he loves you.'
Annabeth just frowned. I could almost see her brain working to find the name. Tears started to form in my eyes as I thought of the worst case scenario. And she confirmed it by saying.
'Percy? who's Percy?.'
Just as the boy with Black hair and sea green eyes came in the door.
