Percy
Annabeth was probably the last person I expected to see on an early Saturday morning.
I had been going around my business normally since I had left the hospital a few months ago. I constantly wanted to go see her but I felt as though I was just signing up for more pain. So I had been spending a lot more time with my mum and Paul with their 3 year old daughter, and my step sister, Bailey. She loves it when I come over because I take her to the pool I train at and teach her to swim, she's a natural or maybe the floaties make her seem that way...
I'd slowly started catching up on my marine biology class. But mainly I'd been focusing on swimming. There's talk going around about me going professional.
So when I saw Annabeth standing in the cold with snow faling lightly around her and she was wearjng this cute little owl beanie with little ear flaps I was a quite a bit more than surprised. It didn't help that I had been wandering around the house in just my aqua blue sweat pants.
'Hi,' she said uncomfortably.
'Hi...' I said quizzically.
'Um... I just came over to see you and stuff I really need help with remembering and all I think I might be making progress but I think, I know, it will be easier if I had someone who knew a lot about me to help and all,' she gushed.
I was a little uncomfortable with her sudden visit and it didn't help that I was worried about my pancakes on the grill.
Maple syrup... My conscious hummed.'Hey, also you don't happen to be making pancakes today?' she said.
I frowned at her before replying. 'Yeah, how did you know?' I felt a small bubble of hope growing in the pit of my stomach we always have pancakes on Saturday.
'Well, basically I woke up this morning like craving pancakes. But not usual pancakes, I wanted blue pancakes and then I though of you so I headed over here to see,' she paused, 'I think I'm remembering you, piece by piece.'
A smile had started to spread on my face.
'Like the other day I was just walking, planning to go get Chinese but I passed this run down pizza place and just walked in and the owner, I can't think of his name-'
'Alberto,' I reminded her.
'Yes! Alberto, but I came in and he was all like "Annabeth! " and then he asked me if I wanted the usual and where you were and then I-' she started struggling, 'I had to tell him what happened and then I said I didn't know what- what my special was but when I ate that pizza, Percy, it was so good! Urgh it was like melting a
In my mouth and I can totally see why I liked it!' She gushed jumping up and down slightly.
I was smiling at her excitement and the memories. I was sort of high on the thought of her remembering when I asked her to come in and have pancakes with me. She was a little unsure at first but when I was eating those pancakes with her I swear I felt the little bonds between us sort of start to mend themselves.
'So, remembering,' I said as I began doing the dishes.
'Yes! Do you have anything that might help me, help us, remember like can we do stuff we usually do?'
'On a Saturday?' I ask.
'Is there something we usually do on a Saturday?'
I just grinned and continued cleaning up.
'Now,' I said sitting back down at the island bench. 'Do you want an Annabeth Saturday or a Percy Saturday.'
'What do you do in either of them?'
'Well, an Annabeth Saturday involves lots of museums and galleries and healthy food, it's pretty cool.' I shrugged.
'And a Percy Saturday?'
'Well, there's a lot less smart stuff and healthy food.'
Annabeth put her hands out on the counter and looked up at me.
'I'm feeling a Percy Saturday.'
'Me too.' I said before bounding up the stairs. '
Follow me!'
I called down to her.
I opened the door to my bedroom as I heard her coming up.
I turned on the TV and grabbed my copy of Finding Nemo before quickly putting the disc in and jumping on the bed.
'You've gotta be kidding me,' she laughed, 'Finding Nemo?'
I grinned and nodded. I quickly grabbed my NYC swim team sweater and pulled it over my head before slipping under the covers. Annabeth shifted from foot to foot uncomfortably before I patted the spot next to me. She made her way over to the bed. I lifted the covers and let her cover up. She buried into the doona then rolled over and looked at me.
'Is this it?' She whispered.
'Basically...' I whispered back.
I reached over and slipped her beanie off. She reclined a bit at first and I was a little stunned that her hair was gone, and only a short buzz cut was left. I smiled reassuringly, 'I like it,' it was partly truth but I'm definitely going to miss curling my fingers into her beautiful hair, it will grow back.
'Thank god, I had to go in for a little more surgery on my head and they had to buzz it...' I could tell she was a little self conscious
'Well, I live it and so should everyone else,' I mumbled as I ran my hand slowly down the side only her face it was all so familiar. I stopped at her lips. She had closed her eyes slightly a small smile played across her lips.
We were interrupted by Marlon telling Nemo to swim in and out of the anemone. I muttered under my breath all the words of the movie as Annabeth and I started to drift back together. Our bonds mending, our bonds remembering.
