My Old Flashbacks

First day of school finished. Check! And finally too.

The only homework I have is to buy the rest of my school supplies. Ms. Montgomery is funny at times, but she is strict when it comes to not following the rules. Five people were caught chewing gum and they are going to get detention tomorrow at recess. Note to self: Never chew gum in Ms. Montgomery’s classes.

“Bye Marilyn! Bye Leo!” I wave to them as they walk the opposite direction.

“See you tomorrow!” Leo yells.

Nicole, Holly and I step onto our bus. Alex and his best friend, Ben Meyers, are looking from the window, observing the wasps buzzing around the flowers. I really hate wasps. They are so annoying and irritating when I do my gardening in the spring and summer. The wasps always try to sting me with their stupidly sharp stingers, but out of all the two billion attempts, they only stung me twice. The first one was incredibly painful, I cried all over the lilies. Mom screamed at me about how I should not be crying on her flowers, but when she saw the deep hole in my arm...Let us just say she was not too happy. The second wasp sting I got did not hurt as much, but I was furious, so I practically crushed the wasp with my gardening hose.

I plop on one of the back seats.  Nicole sits with me and Holly sits with Colin in the seat in front of us. They start acting all flirty again. I hear Holly smacking Colin for teasing her about what she was doing in class.

“I wonder why they are not dating still,” Nicole says. “They are practically a couple.”

“I know right,” I say. “I guess they are just taking it slow.”

Nicole takes out her Chewy bar from her bag. "What should I do about the Eric situation?” Her mouth is filled with grains and seeds. I am a bit disgusted by the sight, but I am used to her open-mouth-while-talking habit.

I rub my chin. I actually do not think of anything yet. “We should make him regret it. Something to stop him from repeating his cheatings,” I tell her.

She clucks her tongue. “I got it!”

“I’m listening.” I lean in closer.

“Okay, this is what we do.  I am going to somehow convince the Chinese girl that he is a two-timing jerk. My mom’s sister is a reporter. We can get her to do a boring new report near our neighborhood. Then, we will come up to the camera and have this entirely different segment about cheating. Finally, he will become sly to bye-bye,” she rambles quickly.

“That is brilliant! Your aunt is on Channel Five, right? Almost every kid watches Channel Five,” I exclaim.

Channel Five is a popular channel because they have this adorable puppy on her show. Her aunt holds it and it squirms around her arms. It also barks every time she announces something urgent. It is the cutest thing ever!  And I think they are getting a parrot to talk about a bit of the news or just repeat after what she says.

“We will do it on Saturday at 11 a.m.,” Nicole says.

“No, I cannot. I have my cousin’s birthday party that day,” I groan.

To make things worse, this is one of my down-right evil cousins. She always acts so snotty like she rules the world. Just because her dad owns the biggest restaurant in the province, it does not give her the right to be shitty to everyone. If she thinks someone is better than she is, she will ruin his or her life forever.

Someone should have told me earlier.  At first, she tried to be all buddy-buddy with me, but I accidently pushed her into the melon punch her mother was carrying. After, my life was torture. Whenever I went to her house, I always have to check my drinks if there are any drugs in it or if my chair has glue planted on it.
