Draco turned around to see Hermiome right behind him.
"How did you---?"
"Find you? The room of requeriment, that's smart. I walked by and was most likely overthinking about how I need you, and suddenly there it was. The door leading to this room."
Draco didn't say anything.
"The vanishing cabinet?"
"How do you know about it?" Draco asked and was both frightened and happy at the same time.
"I read a lot."
"But how---"
"I want to help you." Hermione said.
"No. No way. I won't risk your life. And what would Potter and Weasley say?"
"What they don't know is for their best." Hermione smirked.
Hermione knew that this was all a part of their plan, but she felt like she was betraying her best friends Ron and Harry, even though she was not at all.
Of course Draco was her best friend too, but he was not friends with Ron and Harry, and they two were like brothers to her, while Draco was more to her.
"Please let me, Malfoy."
"Don't call me Malfoy, I hate it. I'm Draco."
"I know. Let me help you."
"I can't let Voldemort know about this."
"He won't figure it out."
"Fine, I'll tell you everything you want to know."
"What are you using the vanishing cabinet for?
"Voldemort gave me a assignment."
"What kind of assignment?"
Draco suddenly fell down. A voice came inside his head.
"Don't tell her anything. I'll kill her."
Th voice was dark and creepy, but he knew who it was.
"Keep mending it, or she'll be done."
Voldemort came with a lot threats.
"Draco, are you okay?" A voice far away said. Or so it felt like. Distant. Draco closed his eyes and passed out for a few seconds.
"Bloody hell, Draco!"
"You'll have to be done by June with the whole assignment, remember, you'll have to kill him at 30 June." Voldemort continued.
"Get out of my head!" Draco shouted.
"What are you talking about?" Hermione asked and bent down.
"Get her out of your life, or she'll be done. I will make her filthy blood be everywhere, and you'll see how dirty it is."
"No, she's my---"
"She's your what? Who's your what?" Hermione asked.
There was to many things going on at the same time. Draco didn't know what to do.
"Kill....kill...kill..." Voldemort whispered.
Draco started to scream. The pain was unbearable.
"Draco, I'm right here." Hermione smiled at him.
She took his hand. She held it tight. He continued screaming. He was sweating.
"Don't be more of a failure than you're already am." Voldemort mocked.
"Get the fuck out of here." Draco spat.
"Me?" Hermione said anxiously.
"No, not you. Stay."
"You heard what I said." Voldemort said inside Dracos head.
"Get out of my mind!" Draco shouted.
The voice was gone. He stood up and Hermione wrapped her hands around his shoulders. They hugged for a long time.
"What happened to you?"
"Voldemort."
There was a moment of silence.
"I guess that's how Potter feels when Voldemort is penatraiting his mind."
"It looks horrible. Like torture."
"It it horrible."
"Have you experienced it before?"
"Of course. Many times."
"I'm sorry."
"It's not your fault."
"You were about to tell me what kind of assignment."
"No, I told you that I can't tell you. Voldemort---"
"Voldemort what?" Hermione asked.
"Nevermind. I'm going back to my dorm, it's getting late."
"Draco!"
"No, Hermione! I told you that I can't tell you! Stop asking! You stupid mudblood!"
"Fuck off!" Hermione said and walked away. She was used to it, so it didn't get to her. It made her more mad than sad.
"Hermione!" Draco came behind her.
"What?!"
"I didn't mean it."
"I'm not hurt, but you know what?! Here I am, trying to help you and---"
"I'm sorry, I just can't--"
Hermione walked away.A little while later, everybody walked to the Great Hall because of the big announcement.
Hermione was sitting with her friends when Dumbledore walked in and up to his place.
"Welcome, I hope you enjoy this feast. We have an announcement to make, and Minerva is going to tell you about it."
Dumbledore moved and sat down beside Snape and Flitwick."This year, we are going to have a ball. It's not traditional, like the ball we had when there was the triwizard tournament. The ball of the year is going to be formal, and for all above second year. We are sorry to inform first and seconds years that you are to young. The ball are set at the friday before most of us leave school to go home for christmas."
Everybody clapped and cheered, except for the first and second years, they booed. Fred looked at Hermione and smiled. Hermione smiled back at him. She was excited to go with Fred. Maybe she didn't have feelings for him, but he meant something special to her.
Time, days and weeks flew by, and the prom was just a few days ahead. Hermione hadn't seen Draco for a long time. And if she saw him, they ignored each other. Hermione used most of her sparetime either studying or being with her friends.
