It was always special coming home. It had been months since she last saw her parents. She didn't visit them often in the school year. She visited them for a while in the christmas break. She alsl returned home again after the school year was over, stayed over the summer, stayed at the Weasleys a few days before school started. This started when she was younger, and had now becomed a habit.
After celebrating christmas eve, she went to the Weasleys. It was easy to feel welcome there. Molly was like a aunt for Hermione, and like a mom for Harry. Hermione really needed this break. Her thoughts needed a break. She couldn't stop thinking about Draco and the assignement, but she didn't think as much as usually. It felt good. Better. New. She arrived late at night, so she went to bed.
She slept in. The next morning she woke up at 11 am. She walked downstairs and realised she was the last one to wake up.
"Good morning." Molly said and smiled at her.
"Good morning, Molly."
"Hermione!" It was Ginny.
"Hello, Ginny!" She said and walked over to her. They hugged.
"He's outside." Ginny whispered, and Hermione knew who she talked about. Fred. The amazing and loving Fred. The good looking Fred too. There was something about him.
"You should eat some breakfeast, dear." Molly found her a plate.
"Thank you." Two seconds after, the table was filled with delicious options. Scrambled eggs. Bacon. Beans. Toast. Juice. Coffee. Hermione took a mug and filled it with coffee, and then helped herself with the food. She took some toast, some beans and don't forget about the eggs."Fred!" Hermione walked outside after going up to change into something a bit more appropriate.
"Hermione!" He said and got down from his broomstick. "When did you get here?" He looked surprised.
"A few hours ago. Really late at night."
"I see. How are you?"
"I'm fine, and you?"
"I've been missing this paticular girl, but I've been holding up."
"Oh, I wonder who this lucky girl is." She giggled and Fred put his arm around her waist. He didn't kiss her. Probably because most of his siblings were outside with them. And also because they weren't a couple and had only kissed twice. One time in the hallway, and one time at the ball.
"Do you want to join us in playing Quidditch?"
"Me? Quidditch? No, sorry. Not my kind of thing. I think I'll read."
He nodded and got back on his broomstick. Ginny joined them. Everyone was out playing except Hermione. She didn't read. She took time to look at the case. Evaluate it. She wanted to know what was going on with Draco so bad. But she had to wait a bit longer. There was something going on, and all she knew was that it involved Draco and the Dark Lord. She knew it sucked. She knew it destroyed Draco. She suddenly heard a smack. Hermione looked at the video and saw an owl. She opened the window and in flew the owl. It had a letter. A letter to her. From Draco.
Dear 'Mione
I hope you are feeling okay, and having a good christmas break. I know I promised to tell you about what's going on, and I will. But I need you to understand that this wasn't my choice. It was not voluntary. It was imposed. I was forced. And I don't want you to hate me after you know. I care about you and always has. I trust you with all my broken heart.
Sincerely your ferret. She knew why he signed with "ferret". It was because the ministry had lately been reading letters if they caught it. She didn't know how to feel. She closed her eyes and tried to relax. School was only a few days away.
