The snow fell down as Hermione and her friends entered the gates to her school. "Hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry." She loved this school with all of her heart. It was great being back. She did enjoy christmas break, but she enjoyed school just as much. But she knew what coming back to school meant. Talking to Draco. The last time she saw him, was right before christmas break. They had their moment at the ball, but he was to confusing. Sometimes it seemed like he really cared about her, other times it seemed the opposite. He could act so cold. Like she didn't exist. Like he didn't have any feelings at all. Stone. Stone cold. And it hurt her to much, but Hermione was used to it. They had known each other for many years. The smell that reminded her of Draco, hit her. She looked around. He wasn't there. She once heard this thing about when you like someone, everything smells like them.
"Earth to Hermione?" Ron tried to get her attention. Hermione couldn't stop smelling. She loved Draco's smell.
"What the bloody hell are you doing? You are acting like a lunatic." He continued.
"What?" Hermione asked and stopped smelling.
"We asked you if you were joining us." Ginny said.
"Where?"
"To the quidditch field." Harry said and tried to keep up with his friends.
"Is it not to cold to be there now? It's even snow."
"No." Ginny smiled.
"No, I'll stay inside. I'm freezing, but you guys go and have fun. I think I'll study or something."
"Study? The first day of school after christmas break?" Ron looked at her like she was crazy.
"Yes." She nodded.
"Well, have fun then!" Harry said, and all her friends walked out.
She knew why she declined them. She needed to talk to him as soon as possible, which meant that she had to go look for him.

She didn't know where to start, so she chose the Slytherin commonroom. Even though they hated her since they had this prejudice against wizards who weren't born by wizards. Like her. Mudblood. That's what they called her. And others. Even Draco has called her it several times. And each time it hurt. But she was used to it. Atleast more than before. She knocked. No one opened. She knocked again. And that's when she saw him.  The tall and slim figure of Blaise was easy to recongnize.
"Granger?"
"Y-yes?" She felt weird.
"Am I catching you trying to sneak in to the Slytherin commomroom again?" He smirked at her.
"N-no-no. I was looking for Draco. And there is no one opening."
"Maybe because you are really early back."
"What do you mean?"
"Usually people does not come back to school before late at night. They want to spend as most time as possible away from school."
Hermione felt dumb, and Hermione does not ever feel dumb. She was embarassed, this thought didn't even hit her.
"Then why are you here already?"
"I don't mind coming back earlier than my friends, I actually kind of like school. I'm doing well and my grades are good."
Hermione nodded. There was an awkward silence, she didn't know what to say. Blaise was one of the few Slytherins that were not mean to her. Atleast not when he was alone. If he were with Pansy and the others, it was different. He could be mean, but he never called her a mudblood.
"He's not here."
"Who?" She asked and looked at him. She could feel her cheeks getting warm.
"Draco. He has not arrived yet."
"Oh." She said and felt disappointed. She felt her heart scatter. She had this big hope that involved him arriving early. There was those times where she considered running in his arms. Yes, there were feelings involved from her side. But at the same time, she felt those feelings for Fred too. Not as strong, but they exsisted. She could never tell Draco, because he would not feel the same way. And eventually he would cut her completely out of his life. It was to messed up.
"What's going on between the two of you?" Blaise asked and fixed his tie. He looked like he needed some sleep.
"Who?"
"You and Draco, of course."
"Nothing." She didn't hesitate at all.
"Don't lie. I see it in the way he looks at you." This sentence caught Hermione's attention.
"I don't know you to well, but I know Draco, and the way he looks at you..." Hermione felt her heart pumping faster. "I have never seen Draco look at a girl like he looks at you. Pansy can be all over him, but I know he hates it."
Hermione giggled. "You can't tell anyone I told you that. Especially not Draco."
"I promise I won't tell anyone. Not a soul."
"I'm serious. He looks at you like you are the most precious thing in the world."
"I have never noticed."
"That's because it's not often. It's when you are not around him, but in the same room. You should've seen him at the ball. Jealous. He was going mad. It was hilarious. For us, not for him." Hermione smiled even bigger. Hearing this was something she really needed right now. "But it's crazy." Blaise continued.
"What is crazy?"
"How he is. How he acts."
"I don't know what you are talking about."
"When it comes to you."
"I still don't---" Blaise interrupted her.
"He is jealous. He ignores you. He talks alot about you, when it's only us two. That stays between me and you. Then, suddenly he doesn't even mention you. He is not as much around as before. We don't see him. I think he is studying a lot in secret."
"You are probably right." Hermione said but knew that was wrong. He had this secret assignment. They both turned around as they heard the voice of Pansy Parkinson and Goyle. They had arrived at school and was right behind Blaise.
"What the hell are you doing here, Granger?!" Blaise said and put on a act. Hermione knew this was coming. He could never be nice to her when they were around.
"I was about to leave." She said and was about to leave.
"Not so fast, mudblood." It was Pansy.
"What?" Hermione rolled her eyes. Hearing the word hurts.
"Why are you always lurking around here?"
"Always?" Hermione looked at Pansy.
"Yes. Are you trying to meet Draco? Is he avoiding you? It would not surprise me. I would avoid you too if you had a huge crush on me." Hermione didn't answer.
"We all know how much you love him, and how little he loves you." Pansy knew how to hurt Hermione. "Is not that right, Blaise?" He nodded. "Now go, Draco doesn't want to see you. I think you should know what he says about you. Sometimes it's words like annoying, lunatic, know-it-all, ugly. And other times, it's word like mudblood. He uses that frase a lot. Quite often."
Hermione felt her eyes getting wet, and knew she had to get out of there. She had to pass Pansy if she wanted to get out of here. She started walking but fell down on her hands when Pansy put her foot out. As expected. They laughed at her. Both Pansy and Goyle. But not Blaise. He whispered "I'm sorry." Hermione sent him a look and got up. She continued to walk.

Later that night, quite late actually, Hermione couldn't sleep. She decided to go out and get some fresh air. After the episode that happened earlier that day, she spent most of her time in the library reading and thinking about anything else but Draco and Pansy. The fresh air hit her and made her feel more refreshed. Hermione decided to take a walk to the quidditch pitch. She knew she could be alone there. She'd been there a few times late at night before, and she knew it was always empty. Not many students dared to break the rules and go outside past bedtime. This was the only rule Hermione ever dared to break. Because she needed it. She sat down in the middle of the pitch. Right down on the ice cold snow. The white ice cold snow. She breathed out. In. Out. In. This was her way of calming her thought down. She didn't go out at this time to often, but tonight she just had to.
"Hermione?" She turned around and was not surprised by who it was.
"I knew you would come." She smiled at him.
"What are you doing here? How did you know I would come?" Draco asked. He was a few meters apart from her.
"I didn't actually know you would come tonight, but I've seen you here before. Last time I were here, I saw you right before I left. I'm here because I can't sleep and wanted fresh air." Draco looked at her. Hermione walked over to him and he put his arms around her waist. They hugged. She looked at him. They both knew what was coming.
"The assignment..." He said and grabbed her hand.
"The assignment..." She said and looked him in his eyes.
"Listen...." He said.
