A/N

Ya, another long wait. I'm not going into detail on this one. Something very personal and very uncool to talk about happened and I needed a break. I should have let you all know but I haven't been myself. Hopefully I'm good to go now :-)

Journal,

Jayda has been with us for over a week now and, young as she may be, is a huge help to us. More than she knows.

Even Ella helped in her own way. When she wasn't at Jayda's side, she was roaming the perimeter of the property or curled up by Oliver. I never put much stock into the whole 'man's best friend' business but after the amount of shuffling terrors she had pointed out in the last week, she was quickly becoming a friend of mine.

That's another thing, in the last few weeks the undead sightings have increased. The number of those that made it into the property were many. Quickly my hope that, if starved long enough these things would die, was diminishing. There were too many of them, the virus spread too easily, too quickly. This wasn't another problem we could pray to mother nature to fix, this was something we had to work out ourselves.

I'm contemplating now whether we should even stay here. Sure, it's a place to call home and so far it's kept us (for the most part) safe but what will we do if another horde comes? With Sebastian and Kara gone, that leaves us without two of our strongest and now we've got another child to worry about. I know she's made it this far on her own but she's so young and can be hot headed. I'm not going to lose someone else. I CAN'T lose someone else. I'm going to talk to the others about moving. We've got the horses now, food we can take with us. It'll be hard at first but I'm still hopeful there's somewhere safe out there, somewhere this plague hasn't hit.

I stood from the desk I'd moved into my room and made my way downstairs, ready for breakfast and to speak to the others about a possible move.

Jayda, Connie and Boyd sat around the table, a plate of eggs and canned fruits in front of them. The camping stove sat on the counter with a pan full of the scrambled eggs on top of it. I grabbed a plate and took a scoop before seating myself beside Jayda. Ella was under the table, begging for scraps as usual.

"We all need to talk." I said to everyone. "Where did Carrie and Bre get off to?"

"They ran into town." Connie answered.

"They WHAT?" I yelled. "On their own?"

"They've been gone since before dawn." Jayda told me. "Boyd found a note they left."

"Said they were checking up on something they spotted when you made your last run. Didn't say exactly what though." Boyd explained. "Beau and T.T, a couple of the rifles and two pistols are gone, along with plenty of rounds. They'll be okay."

I took a breath to calm myself before speaking. "Alright, we wont do well to worry about this now. They'll be okay, I hope...wait, where's Oliver?"

"Still asleep." Connie smiled. "He's having another growth spurt already. All he does now is eat and sleep, eat and sleep. I swear to you, if the undead don't get us, the lack of food with that growing boy around will."

I let out a chuckle and spooned some of the, now cold, eggs into my mouth. "Well, I guess I'll just bring this up now, we can go back over it with the girls when they get back later."

"Go over what, Bruce?" Jayda asked.

"I've been noticing an increase in the amount of dead coming through, we all have." They all nodded in agreement. "After the last horde to roam through and all the stragglers we've killed the last week, I'm not sure it's so safe to be here anymore."
