clara (POV) 

I got out of the hospital last week. It has been boring just sitting here doing nothing. Currently i am in bed watching a movie with lily. Daniel comes in and lays down with us. "hey lily why dont you go clean up your room OK?" Daniel tells lily. Why is he sending her away. "OK daddy." Lily gives us hugs and kisses and runs out of the room. "Hey babygirl can we talk really quick?" I sit up and he comes around the bed to sit in front of me. "sure what is it?" I say with a fake smile i am really scared right now the last time he did this he said he was going away for four years. "Danny your not going away again right? You told me you were staying." He took my hands. I bet he could feel me shaking. "I am not going away like i did last time." I was a little relived. Wait not like last time, that means he is going away for a little bit. "Do you remember Zack?" i nodded my head. "Yeah you and Zack left together to join the navy." He started to cry. I know what that meant. "Zack was killed in action this morning i need to go tell his family. Then i need to go over to base to bring him home." I pulled him into a huge hug. He hug back with much more force. "I love you Danny. Do what you need to do. Me and lily will be OK here i promise." He pulled away and took my face in his hands. "Clara i love you so much. I promise once i bring him home i will be back. Me, you and lily will get a cute little house and be a real family." He kissed me and i kissed back. He pulled back. He stood up and walked towards the closet. When he came back he had a ring box. Oh my god. "This was meant to be when me you and lily went on vacation. But i think we both need this. Its not the romantic walk on the beach like i was planning. But this is a promise to be there for you and lily for the rest of my life. He opened up this box. Inside was my ring. The one he gave me in the hospital now it is totally different It still has the engraving of my nickname but the stones are different two are Daniels and mine on the outside and the inside is lilys. "Daniel its beautiful. " He took it out of the box and held it in his hand. "i love you so much. I know we just started dating but to be honest i have loved you for so long it isnt funny. I want you for the rest of my life. I want to have little kids like us running around, i want a puppy and everything you could imagine. Will you marry me?" I was so happy it was unbelievable. "of course" He puts it on my finger and i give him a huge hug. Now back to reality he was going away. "Just promise you will be careful out there even though your not going to the front but you could still get hurt okay." He didnt answer verbally but the way he is kissing me means the world. It isnt one of those lovers kisses but i promise kisses and i love those kinds. 

NEXT DAY 

(daniels pov) 

I wake up at 4:30 the next morning. After me and clara got done talking lily came back in and we watched Max the dog movie. Lily slept with us last night. She didn't know what was going on but she could tell it was making her mom sad. Mom i love that word. It describes clara perfectly. The way lily calls me daddy just lights up my world. I finally get out of bed without waking up the girls. I take a shower then get into my uniform. I get ready by 6. I walk back up the stairs and go into our room. I go to clara first. I bend down and give her a gentle long kiss on her forehead. She stirs a little bit but settles back to sleep.I look down at the ring on her finger, i am so glad she said yes i love her and lily so much. After i get done saying goodbye to clara i then climb on the opposite side of the bed quietly to say goodbye to me little girl. I give her a big kiss and say goodbye. I walk down stairs and start writing the note i was going to leave them. I turn around when i hear little feet walking towards me. "daddy wht you doin up" I get up from the table and walk over to pick her up,i place her on my hip. "I should be asking you that." I step into the living room and from were the light is shining i could see she had tears on her face. "why are you crying pumpkin?" we sat down on the couch and she snuggled into my chest. "I woke up with a bad dweam. You weren't there." I let out a big sigh and give her a big hug. "Baby daddy needs to go to work but i will be home in a couple days and maybe i might bring you home a present if your good for mommy. Okay?" She starts to head back to sleep but is still coherent enough to nod. About ten minutes later she finally falls asleep i place her on the couch and cover her with my blanket. I give her a huge kiss and start to get ready to leave. I pick up my bag and head towards the door. I look back once more and whisper. "i will come back this time i promise." I shut the door and walk towards the car that the Admiral sent for me.
