I swear every other day class goes by with a breeze and now its like waiting for the civil war to end. I look up at the clock again and see that i only have 2 minutes left. I guess complaining to my head passes time quicker. "Now let us all say happy birthday to the one and only Clara." When i hear my name i glare at my friend Kristen. Everyone looks back at me and they all clap and say happy birthday. The bell finally rings and Kristen heads back to her seat which is next to mine. "Thank you for that embarrassment of the century." I say to her while giggling a little. We start to head towards the door when she starts talking again. "oh stop being so dramatic. I was letting everyone we know that it is your birthday." she tells me while bumping her shoulder into mine. "Its my birthday too. And seriously when isn't she dramatic." I hear Daniel say behind me. I then feel arms wrap them selves around my waist and hug me tight. "i will have you know i am only dramatic when i want to be. So fmmmmm" I was about to say something else but Daniels hand slaps over my mouth. "Don't you dare curse you have been clean for 2 weeks straight do you want to break to the bet with Luke." He is right. I do tend to swear a lot so me and Luke made a deal if i don't swear for 2 months straight he will get me the new lathe i need for my shop. Ever since middle school i gave been into wood working so for my 13th birthday Luke and Daniel turned the garage into my wood shop. Anyways back to the present. "Thank god its time to go home i really don't want to sit through another class." i say while sinking back into Daniels chest. We stay there for a few seconds before Kristen says she will see us tomorrow. But what bother me was Daniel tensed up when she said that. I break our embrace and turn around to look him in the eye. "you okay? You just like jumped when she said that. Is something going on?" I stare at him for a while. "Clara i....." he gets cut off by my phone ringing. "hello? Luke i am talking to Daniel. No it cant wait. Fine i will be out in a minute" i hang up and put my phone in my pocket "listen i need to go before Luke does one of his tantrums. I will see you tonight at  dinner. We can talk then. Love you." I tell him. I go on my tippy toes and give him a kiss on his cheek. I walk out the doors and i remember he is acting really strange. 

I am getting out of the car to head into The Whites house. I see the door open and Daniel walk out the door i run and jump into his arms and hug him like he is my life line. "jeez. You guys just saw each other no even five hours ago." Luke says looking at his watch. "Luke that is way to long away from my best friend." I tell him. They head inside while me and Daniel just stand there hugging each other. "Babygirl i need to tell you something." I get worried because he doesn't have any tone in his voice except worry. "Tell me. what's wrong?" I say to him whole pulling away but still in his arms. "Son lets go people are waiting to eat." His father says to him through the door. "Give me...." He starts to say to his dad but is cut off. "No. Now Daniel." He father turns and walks away. I grab Daniels hand. "Tell me later. Yeah?" He just responds with a nod. We walk inside and sit next to each other. We talked about random stuff through dinner. Then its time for cake. Me and Daniel have loved the same food since forever. I go into the kitchen and grab the slice from Julie. Every year I hit Daniel with a piece of cake when he doesn't expect it but this year its different. He knows to expect it so when i am eating my cake, my brother is going to smash his face in the cake. "Clara can we get this over with?" Daniel asks with a frown. "Get what over with?" I said so innocently. "The part where you smash cake in my face." He grins while saying it. But the grin doesn't reach his eyes like it usually does. Now i know something is definitely wrong. "OK stop," I said while holding my hands in the air, everyone stares at me, "what is wrong you have been acting weird all day." His mother looks at him while he looks at her and gives him a nod. "Come here." He takes the cake out of my hand and puts it down. He brings me outside and sits me down. "what i am about to say is going to change both of our lives OK?" I didn't know what to say so i gave him a little nod. "Last year when the navy soldiers came to our school they were having sign ups for people that are graduating this year. I have always wanted to join, but i didn't want to leave you. So i just signed up fro hahas and i totally forgot about it. Two moths ago i got a latter in the mail asking if i still wanted to join when i turned 18." When he said this i started to get really scared. He would't leave me right he said he would never do that. The next part got me crying. "I said yes and i leave tomorrow." He told me while looking into my eyes. I started shake my head and the tears where cascading down my face. "You promised you would never leave me, you said you will always be there for me. Now your leaving tomorrow." I started getting up. "tell my brother went home." I never heard him answer because i started running back to my house. When i got there i went straight to my room and locked the door. The whole time i was thinking why didn't he tell me. Why is he leaving me.
