***Tara's POV***

I woke up the sound of me making some weird noise.

I looked around and noticed I crashed doing my school work again. I looked at the clock and saw it was 3:30 AM. I breathed heavily, wiping my eyes, seeing my already smeared makeup come off on my palms.

I rolled my eyes and slowly stood up, heading out of my office. I came out and saw Duff still awake on the couch, writing bills. He had a lit cigarette between his two fingers in the hand he wasn't writing with, and he looked even more stressed out then before, which I thought wasn't possible.

He looked up at me and slowly put the cigarette between his fingers into his mouth.

I walked over to him, grabbed his pack of cigarettes on the coffee table and stole one. Duff didn't say anything and watched me walk out to the balcony.

I closed the sliding door behind me on the balcony, put the cigarette in my mouth, lit it, and stared out into the city. The tall buildings, the city lights, the street lights, the car lights, the airplane lights, just everything was lit up and it's just beautiful.

"I finished the bills," Duff said, opening the sliding door behind me.

"Congrats," I mumbled, not turning around to look at him.

"That means I'm goin' to sleep," he said.

"Great," I nodded.

"And where am I gonna be completing that action? Our bed or the couch again?" he asked.

I finally turned my head to look at him, and he was leaning against the door frame, his arms crossed.

"You can sleep in the bed," I quietly responded, "I'm gonna be up all night in the office finishing homework anyway."

He slightly nodded and pressed his lips together, peering into my eyes intently.

After about 10 seconds of him doing that he walked away, closing the door behind him.

I watched him walk away all the way until he was out of sight and I turned back around to stare at the city.

I woke up to the sound of me making some weird noise.

I looked around and noticed I crashed doing my school work again. I looked at the clock and saw it was 7:00 AM.

I got up from my chair and went into the bedroom, seeing Duff dead asleep in our bed. I didn't care much if I was being too loud, so I just went straight to the drawers and pulled out new clothing and underwear and headed to the bathroom to shower.

After I showered I put on my comfy clothes and tied a towel around my wet hair. I put on some makeup and walked outside, instantly seeing Duff sitting on the couch, eating leftover pizza for lunch.

I walked past him to head to the kitchen and he didn't even look at me.

"You wanna drop off the bills?" he asked me.

"No. I do not," I said back.

"I wrote every damn one," he barked.

"Finish the process then and drop 'em off," I said, grabbing a beer from the fridge.

Probably not the best thing for me to get a beer first thing in the morning, but it's a common thing now.

"You gotta stop by the store anyway. We're totally out of everything," he said.

"Why don't you ever go to the damn store?" I muttered.

"Because you can at least do one thing, can't you?"

"Stop saying shit like that. It's really pissing me off," I said, walking to the couch, sitting down as far away as I could from him.

"Well, you oughta go soon. I'm going to practice tonight," he told me.

I looked up at him and couldn't help but to feel happy.

"Oh, really?" I asked, trying to hide my grin.

"Yeah. I gotta go at least once a month," he shrugged it off, taking a large gulp of his beer.

"You called Slash?" I asked.

He nodded, glancing over at me.

"Well. Good. At least you're finally doin' somethin' decent," I said, peeling my eyes off of him.

He didn't say anything and resumed to eat his pizza.

"Duff, did you pay rent?" I asked him, remembering we were already late and our Landlord, Larry, had already warned us that we were on our last straws.

"No. I fucking told you to do it."

"Yeah, then I told you I'd forget so I told you to do it. You said you'd do it!" I screeched.

"Well, I guess we both have bad memory."

"Stop acting like this is nothing! We're gonna get kicked out! Go down and talk to Larry now!" I exclaimed.

"I ain't doin' shit," he breathed, putting his hands behind his head, leaning back, also putting his legs up on the coffee table.

"Man, look at you. Lazy fuck," I spat.

"Are you fuckin' kidding me?" he laughed, looking at me from the corner of his eye.

"No, I'm not," I raised my eyebrows at him.

He then got out of his lazy position and sat up straight, staring at me.

"You fucking saw me last night here writing bills until almost four in the morning. I barley fuckin' slept last night. Don't say I'm a lazy fuck ever again Tara," he said seriously which actually scared me a bit.

"Man, you're always fighting with me," I shook my head, standing up.

"OH, AM I?" he yelled, standing up as well, staring at me.

"Yeah, ya are," I said, trying to walk away.

"YOU YOURSELF JUST PICKED THAT FIGHT. GOD DAMN TARA, DO YOU EVEN NOTICE HOW MUCH YOU FIGHT WITH ME?"

"I don't know who starts what fight anymore," I sighed, looking at the floor.

"Well, let me remind you," he said angrily, clenching his jaw so tightly that I thought his teeth were going to break.

I looked up at him and he came closer to me, almost so close that our lips were touching.

No, not in a romantic way, in a intimidating way.

"It's you. It's always you," he deeply said which made my heart race.

He stared at me with fire in his eyes for a few more seconds, then walked away.

I was frozen in my spot for a bit, trying to fathom what just happened to me.

I shook my head, grabbed the keys, and walked out of the loft.
