OKAY HONESTLY I GET SO CONFUSED WHEN I READ SOME FANFICS. THIS IS HOW THEY GO.
"mate, i am totally in love with her" i admitted
"omg mate go get a piece of dat ass" michael yelled
"mate thx"
so we went back to my apartment
"nice flat" she complimented
"thanks abby" i nodded
i took off my flipflops.
"im gonna take my thongs off is that okay?" abby asked
then we netflix and chilled.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE RIGHT TERMINOLOGY BUT THEN USE THE WRONG ONE AS WELL. IT MAKES ME SO CONFUSED LIKE WTF IS HAPPENING IN THE STORY RIGHT NOW, ARE WE IN AMERICA OR AUSTRALIA? HELP??? USE CORRECT WORDS FOR THE CORRECT SETTING. DO NOT USE AUSTRALIAN TERMS IF YOU'RE IN AMERICA OR VICE VERSA. MAKE IT EASIER FOR YOUR READERS AND IT'LL PROBABLY MAKE YOUR WRITING LESS AWFUL LOL.
Also, our dear follower Emily thinks the word mate is awfully overused so that's why I added mate like 3 times!
And yes, it's quite rare for these to happen in fanfics. The overuse of "mate" is seen but wrong terminology is barely seen. It's still around though and it's a mess.
