Natalia's POV
Beep
I inhaled deep and rolled over on my bed.
Beep
That annoying noise was ringing in my head. Make it stop.
Beep
Why was the alarm on? Wasn't it a Saturday?
Beep
And why was there a searing pain in my ribs? Did I fall on the floor in the middle of the night?
Beep
That obnoxious sound was bugging the crap out of me. Why wouldn't Parker turn it off?
Beep
I snapped up and looked around. Where were the black walls and velvet curtains? The silk sheets and fluffy comforters? Most of all, where was the painting?
Why was I in a white hospital room?
Beep
I looked to my right and saw a heart monitor. So, it wasn't an alarm.
The question still remained, why was I there?
"Natalia."
I smiled upon hearing him. A voice that I've missed in my sleep.
"Parker," I said with a smile.
He stood up and grabbed my hand. "How're you feeling?"
"Great," I told him. "Especially since you're here."
He kissed me softly. Long and sweet. "I've missed you."
I sat up. "I missed you too."
He sat down. "Do you want to see Brandon? I can get him for you."
I nodded. "That would be great."
He stood up and walked out of the room.
I completely forgot about the accident. I forgot about that day. Showing Julie around the house, going to Brandon's. Ending up in the hospital.
The door opened and Brandon appeared.
"Brandon." I smiled and tried to push myself up, but grimaced in pain. Goddamn, my ribs ached.
"Lay down," Brandon told me softly. "I don't want you to get hurt even more." He sat down next to me bed and grabbed my hand. "How are you feeling?"
I smiled. "I'm good. A little pain here and there, but other than that, I'm fine. How's Julie?" Brandon looked at the floor. What was his problem? I eyed him thoroughly. "Brandon."
He gulped. "S-she..."
"Tell me, now!" I demanded, my heart rate starting to rise on the monitor. It was driving me crazy. I needed to know about my best friend. My sister.
He looked in my eyes. "She's in a coma, Natalia."
"What?" I asked, my voice trembling. "That's not true!" It couldn't be true. Julie was fine. She was not hurt.
It was my fault.
He sighed. "It is true," he whispered.
My grip tightened on his hand and I pulled him towards myself, enveloping him in a hug.
I was the one driving. I was the one who didn't watch for ice.
I sobbed into Brandon's shirt and felt him do the same.
I let go, looking in his eyes. "When did they say she might wake up?"
He wiped his tears. "That's the thing, Natalia, she might not."
My head snapped towards him. That could not be true. "What do you mean?"
He looked at the floor. "The doctors said she has a ten percent chance of living."
My lower lip began to quiver again and he reached forward, wiping the tears off my cheeks.
"How long have we been here already?" I asked quietly.
He ran his hand through his hair. "About a week. You were asleep until today because of all the painkillers for your surgery and your broken ribs."
"Do you think Julie will wake up?"
He gulped. "I don't know, but I sure hope she does."
She needed to wake up. The guilt would eat at me forever.
