Allison awoke feeling extremely refreshed; she definitely needed that. She saw a sleeping Emily beside her.

"I guess she needed it too," Allison thought smiling down at her peaceful-looking friend.

She looked at the clock on the stove: 3:00. She had been asleep for nearly two hours. She stretched and slowly got up from her blanket.

As she did so she recalled her dream; she had dreamt that she was eating brownies. Then, at the same moment she recalled what must have been the culprit of her dream; Emily had suggested they make brownies. She had turned them down because she was not hungry.

Allison remembered why she had not wanted them, and her sense of happiness faded. Her grandmother was dying. Well, the meditation had helped her forget for a little while, but nothing could permanently erase the thought from her memory.

She couldn't just sit around and mope about it though. She was a pregnant teenager who needed to focus on getting her baby adopted, and while she was pregnant she needed to keep herself healthy both physically and mentally for both her and the baby's sake. If she sat around and cried about the fact that she was losing her grandmother, she was not doing herself or her baby any good.

Allison considered counseling; it definitely wasn't a bad idea. If she could talk to someone about what she was going through it would definitely serve as a benefit to her because she was going through a lot. In just two days she had found out she was pregnant and that her grandmother was dying of stage 3 colon cancer; it was a lot to handle. She had Todd and Emily to be there for her, but there was something about getting a professional's help that just worked wonders. So she would definitely look into that.

Now despite her slight depression that she was feeling Allison was feeling hungry as well. She decided against the brownies remembering her promise to limit sweets from her diet. Plus, she had already had ice cream today. That was plenty of sweets for one day.

She decided to make a fruit and yogurt parfait. That was a healthy dessert/snack. She looked over at Emily who was stirring in her sleep. She moaned sleepily. She would make one for Emily too because even though she had had a big cheeseburger and ice cream, she might be craving a little snack when she woke up too.

So Allison spooned some vanilla Greek yogurt into some fancy glass dishes, topping them off with fresh strawberries and blueberries and a sprinkle of granola.

As she set the dishes onto the table she heard Emily let out a loud yawn from the other room.

"Good morning sleepy head," said Allison, smiling at her best friend who was stretching her arms above her head and letting out another silent yawn.

Emily sighed when she had put her arms down. "Good morning," she said.

"How was your cat nap?" Allison asked.

"It was great," she said. "I've never felt more relaxed in my life."

Allison smiled at her. "Meditation is a beautiful thing isn't it?"

"Yes," said Emily. She peered her head over to the table where the parfaits were set. "What did you make?"

"Yogurt parfaits," said Allison.

"Yum," said Emily. She got up from the towel and headed into the kitchen.

Allison had to admit the parfaits were very good. They were an excellent healthy dessert alternative. She wondered if Todd could go for these as opposed to brownies or cake for dessert every night.

Speaking of cake, she just remembered that they had chocolate cake in the fridge. Allison had made it the other night for dessert. She didn't get to have any of it yet, and she wasn't going to start pigging out on it now. Of course, she didn't want Todd to do that either.
