I was just about to go find Nate as he walked up to me looking very nervous. "What's wrong?" I asked as he took the eggs and the movies from me and gave me the keys to his car. "What's wrong?" I asked again a little more urgent than last time. "My dads here." He said. "Oh, okay. Then let's check out quickly and hope he doesn't see us." I said. "Okay." He said still looking very nervous. We were just twenty feet from the first checkout line when Nate said "Keep your head down and act normal."
"Why?"
"My dad was just looking over at us he hasn't recognized me yet but-" Nate never got to finish because at that moment Nate's dad yelled "NATHAN!" "Shit, run." He said. So Nate and I took of running tripping the alarm because of the stuff. Nate's dad was still behind them yelling his name when I ran up to the car slid on my butt across the hood, opened the door, started the car and floored it before Nate even had his door closed. I floored it until I saw the lights from the police cars. "Wow that was pretty impressive the way you handled that back there. Most girls would've just broke down in tears or something." Nate said. "Well I'm not like most girls." I said as I turned on the radio. He smiled and she asked "Why did you look so nervous back there." He looked at me as if he wanted to tell her something big and important but instead he said "Because I ditched school and I'm not supposed to." I rolled my eyes and said "If you were worried about that you wouldn't have ditched school to begin with. What's the real reason?" He looked at me and smiled and said "I'll tell you later but first we should get rid of this car my dad know the license plate number." "Good idea." I said just as I got off the highway and headed towards my house. "Where are we going?"
He asked. "To my house to get my dads truck." I said. "But won't he be mad that you skipped school?" He asked. "Yeah but if he does get mad I can blackmail him because he should be at work." I said. He looked over at her and smiled for a few seconds until she turned to him and asked "What are you staring at."
"You."
"Well obviously but why?" "Because one you're pretty, two you're feisty, and three you're not like any girl I've ever met." He said. I smiled a little, rolled my eyes, and said "Whatever." Just as I turned into my neighborhood.
