We walked in the Tea shop and looked around. The place was a mess. Chairs were knocked over, tables broken up till they were nothing but sticks, and glass was shattered like a carpet on the floor. "I don't think no ones here-" Lillian cut herself off. I turn to see her eyes widen and blood dripping from her shirt. She fell to her knees, and I could see the fear and pain worn on her face. "Lil.... LILLIAN!!!" I screech. I run to her and a person ran out the door of the shop. I couldn't tell who. I apply pressure to where she was stabbed but she has lost so much blood. "Please stay with me... I can't lose you!" I cry. "Its okay, Dezi." She smiled. "I am gonna be okay..." With every word she said her voice got softer. She only had minutes left I feared. "I love you. I love you Lillian. Please. Please be okay... I love.. I love you!!" I felt more tears stream down my face and grabbed her hand. She held it for a while then let go slowly.
She was gone.I Jump up. Every night its the same haunting dream. It has left its imprint on my mind like a tattoo. It just won't go away. I strip the covers off my bare body and walk to the closet. I slip on my weekend clothes which was a sweatshirt with long checkered pants. School has been canceled till the murder is solved, but at the max till after summer. Which means all of the students are on break. I stretch a bit then head for my vanity. I grab a brush, comb my hair, then slide it up to a pony tail. I place the brush back in its place then stagger my way to the door. I reach the hallway and glance at Panki's door. It has been a month now without a single word about her whereabouts. It is starting to trouble me about as much as Lillian's death. I stomp down the stairs and head to my semi-new home. The couch. It doesn't trouble my mom that I stay on the couch often. She isn't around much anymore after the incident. I guess she is just giving me my space. I don't know.
My eyes began to droop and grow heavy. What brought me back just a little was when Lillian opened her eyes to look around then back at me. She blushed then leaned up and kissed me. Her lips were soft and I could taste the Cherry Coke she had drank from earlier. I placed my hands softly on her face then began to kiss her back. Everything was so perfect.
I shake my head away from the distant memory and hear the door open then close. I turn to see Brianna walking. "Sorry, I didn't mean to intrude." She says and stands a distance away from the couch. "It's fine. What's up?" I ask, trying to put as much space between me and the memory as possible. Brianna makes her way to the chair across from the coffee table and sits down crossing her legs. "I want to talk about Lillian's killer." Those words caught my breathe. After the case went cold A few weeks ago I was devastated, but learned to live with it. Now it's opening again?! "What? What do you know?!" I sit up closer to the table. I see a sparkle of hope but disappointment in her eyes. "Dez... We came to believe that the killer isn't human." Isn't human...? "The killer has to be of great supernatural power. The police want to hand the case over to the undertakers. They handle the otherworldly." She informed. "What makes you think that it is supernatural.." I asked. She saw the hurt look in my eyes which made her shift tones from an informing detective to a worried friend. "We examined the body once again before it was buried and waited for test results. It just came in last week. She wasn't stabbed with a knife. She was ripped from the inside out with ravenous claws. Cutting up all of her organs." She study my expression with care. I sat back absorbing all of the information that I was just told. "Sadly, we only got that much back." She sighed. "Why didn't it kill me then." I told more than asked. I know enough about supernaturals to know that they usually kill the whole party. If it killed Lillian then I should be dead to. It doesn't add up. Unless.... "We believe that it sensed a stronger kind near. Fearing it would be attacked instead." She replied. "But I saw a man leave. A man. So explain that." I started to sound irritated more than anything now. "The otherworldly can take shape of human's to disguise their true form. Dez I'm Sor-" She stopped as she noticed I was tearing up.
She walked over and sat next to me. "I know it hurts Dez. I know." She sits there motionless. "I swear to you. I won't let this case go... I will find the killer... even if that means.." She trails off but I knew what she meant. She would join the undertakers to find it. I slumped further in my spot. I felt a rustle next to me and Brianna lifted my head up. "What are you-?" She stopped and hugged me where I sat. This comfort was odd from her. She usually just acted like she was about to beat me all the time. (Not the bully way but as friends.. we were very competitive.) I hugged her back and her grip tightened. "I swear I will make things right." she whispered.
We sat there for a while then she broke the hug wiping away my tears. "I just miss her so much, Bri." I say looking down. Trying not to cry again. She rubs the side of my face. "I know. I do too." She pulls away and stands. "Have you found... anything about Panki." I asked remembering her. Her stance shifts. Her expression goes territorial real fast. "No." She answers back then heads for the door. Crap. I thought.
Brianna and Panki were very close, and when she found out she went missing... She went ballistic. She stayed awake for hours, days, weeks. Just trying to find her. She finally admitted to me two weeks ago was because she thought she had feelings for Panki, and wanted to make sure what they were, but she given up as if late. If her name comes across anyone's lips she is prepared to fight. "Brianna Wait. I'm sorry!" I yell to her, but on que the door slams shut behind her. Leaving me alone with my troubled dreams and twisted memories.
