Becoming Batman

Remember

My foot stomped down on the peddle as I got into character. The three of us, Red Hood, Starfire and I were all pumped to beat some ugly faces. I pulled into a dark alley and hopped out of the Batmobile with Starfire and Red Hood following my lead. I signaled to Star and Red to stay close and Starfire was completely lost." Stay close." I whispered." That warehouse looks like a good spot to start looking for Joker and Deathstroke." I said as I grappled onto the top of the warehouse. Red followed my lead while Starfire flew up. I lifted the small 'roof access' hatch and jumped in, landing silently on the cement floor. The lights suddenly turned on and Deathstroke and Joker were standing a couple of feet in front of us.

"Surprise!" Joker said in a sing song tone. I glared and his smile got bigger." Looks like batsy has someone new under the dark cowel!!!" He said. I growl and he laughs like the psychopath he is. Deathstroke cracks his knuckles and pulls out a sword.

"Let's play." He said and he swung his sharp sword at me but I dodged. Red Hood and Starfire went after Joker who started to run and throw bombs everywhere." Stop moving so I can kill you!" He yelled. I moved swiftly and punched him in his two colored mask. He tumbled to the floor but quickly got up slicing the side of my shoulder, making me hiss in pain. I am about to charge at him when a burst of green light knocked him out. When he fell to the floor I saw Starfire floating off the floor with a green Starburst in her right hand. I give her a nod and lean down to cuff Deathstroke but he catches me off guard and kicks my stomach making me fall to the floor gasping for air. He whips around and punches Starfire in her face. Red Hood jumped in and started to fight with Deathstroke flipping and kicking away. I push myself up and run at Deathstroke just as he knocked out Red. I closlined him and he fell to the floor with a thud, but he didn't stay down. He swept my feet out from under me and he got on top of me holding a knife to my throat." You fought well, but it's time to join your former partner." He lifted the knife up and stabbed my shoulder, then my other one. Finally he lifted it up and yelled as he brought it down towards my heart. A green bolt of light knocked him off me and he skid across the cement. I try to move but my shoulders sent shooting pain all throughout my body making me groan. I saw Starfire lean over me and her eyes filled with worry.

"Red Hood come help me!" She said and I saw Red appear in front of me. I wave them off despite the shooting pain in my arm. I pushed myself up and somehow managed to sit up. I breath heavily as I stand up, Starfire tries to help me but I fall forward after taking one small step. She caught me and I now notice how much blood I had already lost." Take it easy..." she said and she helped me over to the Batmobile laying me down in the back seat.

"Deathstroke." I said and she shushed me.

"Gone. He was gone when I woke up. We lost him." I heard Red say and I glanced over seeing a waterfall of blood coming down his face from his head.

"You need medical attention..." I said and he chuckled." I'm serious. I'm not getting one stitch until your checked out-" I cut off when my vision starts to blur. Me head starts to throb and my stomach churned. Poison. Deathstroke laced his blades with poison...

"Dude! Stay awake. Star what's wrong he shouldn't be losing consciousness this fast!" I heard Red say and I could barely say one word.

"Poison..." everything goes black.

I keep blacking out, waking up and blacking up over and over again. I could see bright lights and I could hear people talking... no, they were yelling. I felt cold and weak, so weak...

I could hear male voices yelling and rushing around. But I also heard a female voice... Star. I couldn't leave her or Jason. It was so hard to stay though, but I knew I had to so I fought. Come on Grayson! Your not weak... your strong! I saw memories flood back to me.

"Wow. Dick Grayson former member of the Flying Graysons... more like Falling Graysons!" I was at school and a bully was beating me up again. I don't dare tell Bruce or fight back....

"Your such a loser!" I was walking on the street and a young girl screamed at me.

"Circus freak!!!" I was at the gym and some boys from my school were there. I always wanted to pound their faces into a wall! But I never do. I try to be better than them, but it's hard.

"I am Starfire and I wish to ask permission to remain here on Earth where the people are most kind!" I just met Starfire and the rest of the soon to be Teen Titans. I smiled and shook her hand, that day I formed the Teen Titans!

Such good memories... but also bad.

I was frozen with fear as I watched my parents fall to their death below." Dick!!!" My mom screamed. I can't imagine the feeling of knowing your going to die, knowing your never going to see your kid grow up. Never getting to tell him that your proud of him instead there was always ' I bet your parents would be proud of you!'. They always lied! I could remember the tears streaming down my face and trying to wake my parents up ignoring the blood staining my outfit. I could remember the anger and sadness and fear that I had when I struggled against the police's grip while I was trying to run back to my parents.

I felt pain as I took my first breath in the last 5 minutes.
