We were on game number two of Chutes and Ladders. I had lost the first round to Kito since I haven't played a game with anyone in awhile. I felt down about losing, then I remembered, after a sip of my tea, that we were playing the two out of three rule.

"Ready to go again?" Kito asked setting up the game pieces for the next round.

I nodded my head at him and finished the rest of my tea with a satisfying sigh. I sat down the delicate cup on to it's saucer and moved it aside so we wouldn't break it.

"Would you like another cookie before we start Kito?" I yawned trying to be polite since in my mind he was a guest in my house. I met his gaze and realized that I had not once looked at his face since he arrived. Kito's eyes were a warm brown with a hint of green to them

 Hazel. . .

"Mariya, you-hoo? Are you okay?" Kito's voice said breaking my wandering eyes from his face.

 "Y-yeah," I blushed, "Just, uh, zoned out. . ."

Kito chuckled lightly and sat down his hot cocoa mug. He quickly glanced at the clock that sat above my mirror.

"I have to go in an hour. That's when my shift ends." He picked up his mug again and took a sip.

"Will you be back tomorrow?" I asked trying not to get my hopes up.

"Yes actually, I checked my schedule. I'll be here Monday's through Thursday's unless something comes up."

I hid my smile behind my hair. "Okay, I've just, well, enjoyed your company today."

Kito looked shocked and almost dropped his ceramic mug on to the floor. He sat it down gently and picked up the dice then rolled them.

"Eight," he said sliding his piece forward. I took the dice off of the board and cradled them in my hand before rolling.

"Six," I said moving my piece to where a ladder was connected to, "Looks like I'll be winning this time Kito," I winked and we continued to play.

My piece was on space ninety seven. If I rolled a two, which was snake eyes, I lost. The dice fell out of my hands and dropped onto the board.

"Three," I breathed, my eyes widening as I realized my first ever victory, "I-I win. . . I actually won at a game for once!"

As I bounced around the room with glee I didn't notice that Ellie had peaked her head in through the door. I looked at her and smirked slightly before sitting down on the windowsill. She smiled at me and then looked over to Kito. "Kito?" She asked.

"Yes?" Kito responded standing up and starting to clean everything up before Ellie could get to it.

"Your shift has ended, if you need to know where to sign out just go to the nurse's station down the hall," Ellie informed Kito with her darling smile.

"Oh, okay," Kito picked up his violin case and turned towards me, "Well, until tomorrow Mariya. Let's call our competition a tie so we both get what we want tomorrow."

"Okay, bye bye Kito," He left with a wave and held his violin case close to his chest.

One he left Ellie picked up the tray and started to tidy up my room. "You like him, don't you Miss Mariya?" She giggled like one of the little school girls off of Ouran High when one of the Host club members talked to one of them.

I blushed and looked out the window trying not to let her get to me. I put on my best poker face and watched as Kito got into a car and drove away.

"What do you mean Ellie? A boy like him with a girl like me would never work. . . I don't like him that way at all, he's like a friend to me. One that doesn't know my story and won't be afraid of me. . ." I whispered as the wind blew my pasty white curtains around me.

Ellie laughs once more, "Miss Mariya, you may not of realized it but you let him in. You gave Mr. Kito just enough room to wiggle around in your heart."

"Anyways, I'll be back in thirty minutes to take you to dinner Miss Mariya."

"Of course Ellie," I said as she closed my door with a click. I left my window and plopped down on my bed.

Kito was nice to me, I could he didn't let anyone in, just like me. No one has been nice to me in a long time besides Ellie. Kito seemed to be the opposite of me though, it's like we were made on different universes and put on the same one.

Kito had black hair and I had white hair.

He had hazel eyes and I had blue eyes.

Kito wore dark colors and I wore whites and light colors.

But most of all, Kito played music and I just listened.
