Chapter 7

"Is this okay with you?" Corliss asked, passing the hand mirror over. "Yes, it's good." I said, smiling at the mirror.

I asked my friends to help me prepare for the date later. They rummaged inside my closet, searching for an appropriate outfit. They asked me to wear the black backless dress they found, yet I said no. They also asked me to wear a 5-inch closed-toe stilettos, which will seriously decrease my height gap on Chase. So, I approved. Artemisia lent me her diamond jewelry set, all shining like a star.

"Do I really need to wear these?" I asked Artemisia, who is still searching for the perfect dress.

"Of course!" she answered in a high-pitched tone. I'm not capable of wearing jewelries, but for the sake of this date, I will wear some.

Artemisia placed the diamond necklace around my neck and locked it. "It's quite heavy," Artemisia said and winked.

"I can handle it." I informed her, smiling.

"Can I now work with your hair?" Yana asked impatiently, sitting on the couch. "Yes."

It's funny to see Yana looking annoyed. I understand her, in fact, waiting for almost two hours without doing anything is really infuriating. Well, it was still her fault. I asked her to watch a movie upstairs to entertain her, but she refused to. Corliss also warned her that she's not a fast makeup artist, but she just said, "It's fine."

"What do you want me to do?" Yana asked, holding a hairbrush. "Just a simple updo would do. Please don't forget to place these diamonds on my hair," I said, handing over the diamonds Artemisia lent me. Don't worry, I won't be kidnapped.

"Does your date really needs to be this grand?" Corliss asked, helping Artemisia to rummage in the closet.

"Absolutely not. Keith prepared this, not me," I protested. "I'm not supposed to do this. I don't want a date," I added.

"You should've rejected it!" Artemisia stated angrily.

"Keith asked me to... date Chase."

"What?!" Corliss exclaimed. "You're doing this because he asked you to do so? You're crazy." She smacked her palm into her forehead. I didn't expect Corliss to react like that.

"Calm down, Corliss," Artemisia ordered calmly, putting her hand on Corliss's back.

"You're not a doll, Av! You are a princess! You shouldn't let others control you!" Corliss said, looking straight at me. I really don't get her point. "He's.. he's just your friend, Av! We're your bestfriends, you should've been---"

"Keith's my crush," I uttered gently, putting my hands on my back because I think I'm actually blushing. I've been thinking about it a multiple times. Shall I tell them I 'm inlove with Keith, or shall I not? Well, I'd told them already.

"That's what I thought!" Yana cried out.

"But, why will you date Chase instead of Keith?" Artemisia asked gloomily.

"Keith asked me to date Chase. I can't reject it," I said, slightly bowing me head, looking at my pink-painted fingernails designed with small pretty diamonds. "That's how I like him. I'll do everything to make him happy."

"You're so dramatic," Corliss said disgustingly.

"I know," I replied, "By the way, Yana, are you done fixing my hair?" I asked, raising my head up, enough to look at Yana.

Finally, we're done. I've decided to wear a pink dress, exactly matching the color of my fingernails. The upper part's covered with laces, while the lower part's ruffled like it was a bunch of pink rose petals. My hair is perfectly fine. It was beautiful. And lastly, I wore a pair of 5-inch pink stilettos, heels are gilded.
