Synopsis:
When tragedy is about to strike, Satoru Fujinuma finds himself sent back several minutes before the accident occurs. The detached,   29-year-old manga artist has taken advantage of this powerful yet mysterious phenomenon, which he calls "Revival," to save many lives.

However, when he is wrongfully accused of murdering someone close to him, Satoru is sent back to the past once again, but this time to 1988, 18 years in the past. Soon, he realizes that the murder may be connected to the abduction and killing of one of his classmates, the solitary and mysterious Kayo Hinazuki, that took place when he was a child. This is his chance to make things right.

Boku dake ga Inai Machi  follows Satoru in his mission to uncover what truly transpired 18 years ago and prevent the death of his classmate while protecting those he cares about in the present.

Personal opinion:

There was such a huge hype on this anime, even thought it came out just two months ago (Jan 2016) and yet, it has ranked number 17 on MAL in this short time period. For those of you who still don't get it, THAT IS A PHENOMENAL SUCCESS RATE. Almost every single one of my anime watching friends have mentioned it to me more than twice.

I understand why this anime was so anticipated, but I've got to say I'm a bit disappointed. Since it's a mystery anime, it's meant to keep you on your feet guessing who the murderer was but instead you're left with guessing when the protagonist figures it out. Ironically, I was able to figure it out from the second episode. And I've found so many plot holes, it's getting ridiculous.

Obviously many people will have contradicting opinions on this anime, but I really expected so much more from the producers. All in all, it was great for passing time with it's slightly different format and concept than usual animes.

I still recommend this anime in response to it's tremendous success, hopefully you might like it more than I did!
