Darkstar was still incredibly green so I usually took Midnight when I explored the island. It helped him get used to all different environments. I was always curious about the Dark Core base at Moorland. Ever since I'd watched Justin Moorland get kidnapped (though personally I think he could've swam to shore instead of just waving) I'd been stalking this Dark Core base on my own every day. Nothing ever seemed to happen. I started to think nothing ever would. One evening just as the sun was starting to set something actually did happen. A horse's neigh pierced through the silence and out of nowhere one of the Dark Core guys came around a box yanking at a horse with a chain around his neck. The horse was a beautiful blue roan, and looked to be a quarter horse like Midnight. The horse was fighting, but wasn't strong enough to pull away.  I watched as they tied him up on a boat then continued to load boxes as usual. These people had kidnapped a guy, there was no way I was leaving the horse with them. I knew the boat always left the shore just after the sun completely set. I turned around and trotted Midnight up to Mrs. Holdsworth's house, not wanting him to get caught while I carried out a stupid plan. After she agreed to watch him, I ran back down to the beach on foot. They were still loading boxes so I hid in a small one. I felt my box get lifted up and carried for a minute before being set down again. Once the sound of the guy's footsteps faded I pushed the lid off the box and climbed out. I quickly learned the Dark Core guys couldn't see very well and hid behind boxes whenever one came close. I slowly made my way up to the horse. Just as I reached him I felt the boat shift and realized it was leaving. Knowing I had to be fast if I wanted to get back I walked up to the horse. The horse looked at me hopefully and suddenly out of nowhere a voice spoke in my head. "Help me" I looked at the horse confused. "Was that you?" I whispered. "Yes" he replied. Still unsure if this was fake or not I undid the chain and pulled it off of his neck. When I looked towards shore I saw the only way I'd be able to get back was swimming, I'd have to hope I can swim that far. "Can you swim?" I asked the horse. Stupid question I know, but if the horse was talking to me I might as well ask before jumping in the water. "Of course, let's go" he replied. Suddenly I heard somebody shout behind us "Don't move!". I watched as a bunch of the Dark Core workers approached, clearly not happy I was taking this horse. The horse next to me suddenly said "Get on, I have an idea". This is when I'd figure out if he was really talking or not. If he wasn't he'd probably throw me off, if he was then we'll I'm not quite sure. I didn't exactly have time to think so I mounted the horse. The instant I settled on to his back he took off galloping across the boat. I don't think the Dark Core people knew what to think but they kept trying to catch us. I saw the back of the boat approaching fast and knew what this horse was doing. We were so far away from shore though, how was he going to swim that far? I threw the thoughts out of my mind as he jumped and focused only on staying on. The water was freezing when we hit it and the horse started moving back towards the shore. I don't know how far we got but soon I felt him losing strength. It didn't help that a strong rip current was trying to push us off somewhere else. The horse finally stopped swimming completely and I panicked. I tried, but I couldn't push a horse while swimming. Just I thought I was going to die here, I felt something solid hit my back. I turned to see Herman from Jorvik Stables on a boat I recognized as the one to and from horse island. I grabbed the side of the boat and desperately pulled myself up before collapsing on it. I watched Herman and the other people on the boat pull the horse I'd rescued out of the water. Once on the boat the horse stumbled across it before coming and laying down near me. Luckily nobody asked me what happened, I probably looked to exhausted to talk. I couldn't help but wonder about the horse talking to me. I mean Elizabeth had mentioned I could be a Soul Rider and I knew their horses could talk to them, but I never even saw this horse until today. After a couple hours it was still dark as the boat landed by the riding hall. I was still tired but I could function normally. Not wanting to explain what happened to anyone I thanked Herman and got off the boat, the horse walking beside me. After we were a good distance away I told the horse "I need to get Midnight, I left him down by Moorland". I decided to use the trailer system, this horse was probably to weak to ride at this point. I walked up to the winery and used the trailer there to get to Moorland. Mrs. Holdsworth was in bed, but Midnight was secured comfortably in her yard. He came trotting over eager to see me.  I got on him and walked back over to the trailer knowing it was to late at night for Steve to pick me up and trailed both horses back. Once both were settled in my home stable I walked over to the blue roan, the night's events still whirling through my mind. What I'd gotten myself into I didn't know, but I knew from the experiences I'd had with my other horses it would turn out alright. Of course a talking horse and Dark Core took things to an entirely different level. "You alright?" I asked him. "Yeah" he replied but he still sounded weak. I'll call the vet in the morning I thought to myself. I went to walk out of the stable and head to bed but as I was leaving one more question hung in my mind. I turned and asked the horse "What's your name?". He replied quietly "Silverblaze".

Silverblaze is my main quest horse so I felt his story should connect more the whole Soul Rider thing.
