RANTS - People Who Are "Vote Hungry"

On Wattpad, there are a few people who make me feel bad. I have not had an actual conversation with someone that made me angry, but the way they word their messages to fans makes me feel like a bad person. Not to name names, but someone I follow sent out a message saying that if they got enough votes, they would post an extra chapter to their story. They didn't get to the number of votes they wanted so they didn't post any extra chapter. Instead, they sent another message to their fans. The message basically said, "I guess no one wants another chapter."

That is not the exact quote, but it's the gist of it. Why would you ever send that to your fans? They are called fans for a reason. Sending messages like that doesn't make me want to vote anymore. It makes me want to stop following you. That type of message makes you seem cranky, or seem like you have a bad attitude about everything. Of course, your fans would want another chapter. It just so happens that the amount of votes you wanted was not the amount you got. Shouldn't you be happy that you got that many votes though? If you do that with all of your chapter, it just makes you vote hungry.

Speaking of vote hungry Wattpaders, there are a few people who I used to follow that were like that. They would say " I need ___ votes, ___ follows, and ___ comments before I post out another chapter." It might not seem a lot to the writers, but it seems like a desperate way to earn votes. Followers aren't supposed to use votes like a mode of currency. That is like buying out a chapter. Votes are supposed to be used to show appreciation of that certain chapter. I'm not going to vote for a chapter that says things like that in the author's notes. Sometimes, I like a chapter, but not enough to vote for it. Why can't some people understand that?
