His Number

"And he gave you his NUMBER?!?!?!?"

You would think that after just waking up on a Sunday morning that I would be pretty pissed at someone from screaming down the phone and repeating everything I said. But it was Dee, and this was the norm' her outbursts of fangirl moments were quite common.

Basically, I was used to it. Besides, I had fangirl moments too, like last night after I got home from meeting Patrick freaking Stump.

"Have you texted him? Have you called him? Have you even put the number into your phone?" The questions went on like that.

"I-"

"Oh my god, Paige you haven't even put in his phone number, have you? I am so disappointed in you. Mels! Did you hear that?"

I heard a muffled yes come from their side of the call. My two friends were away on a break for the weekend with their boyfriends. They had asked me to come but I hate being the 5th wheel.

"Dee, I'll put it in, but what if it's fake?" I was actually really worried about this.

"Seriously Paige? Stump is way too nice to do that. Now if you haven't put it in by the time we get back tonight I'm never talking to you again.

There was more muffled talking; "and so will Mels. So do it...or else."

Mels wasn't as hyper as Dee, or even me. But she had her days.

"Okay, okay. I'll do it right now. Got it?"

"Oh you better." The line went dead then. Trust Dee to be super dramatic.

But I still took out the piece of paper. And just looked at it. I still couldn't believe it, Patrick Stump. And he has mine.

I bet he threw it away.

No, don't think like that.

But he probably did.

My mind kept going back and forth for ages. I got a shock when I heard the door bang down stairs and it slipped out of my hands and underneath the wardrobe.

"Shit!" I dived down and put my hand underneath the wardrobe but all I could feel was dust.

No, no, no!

I tried to lift the wardrobe up but it wouldn't budge. I sat down in defeat and started to cry.

It wasn't as if he was going to answer you back.

And in the back of my mind I believed it. I got up and went to the bathroom. My hair was a fuzzy mess of brown and purple. Bed head. I sighed and set to work untangling it. It wasn't just my hair that was a mess. My life was.

I was unemployed, living with my dad and couldn't get my life together. And now, I had lost the number that Patrick Stump had given to me.

/////Skip to the evening\\\\\

Dee was going to kill me. They were going to be back in an hour. She wouldn't stop texting me but I only replied once. I was so dead.

"Hey Paige? What you up to?" It was my dad. He was back from the club. And what was I doing? Laying on the couch watching Doctor Who re-runs. See? I'm a mess.

"Nothing much...I have no idea what I'm going to do about a job."

"Don't worry Chicken, you'll find something. You know you could always try to pursue that music career you used to talk about..."

"Dad..."

"It was just a suggestion. You know I will always support you."

"I know." He turned, to walk away but then stopped and threw my phone at me, which had been on the counter. "You got a text by the way."

"Thanks but it's probably just Dee, for about the 100th time today."

"Okay, I'll be in the kitchen if you need me."

"Okay."

Despite myself, I turned on my phone and opened messages. And then I shrieked. Because beside the 500 or texts I got from Dee and Mels, there was not one, but two texts from Patrick freaking Stump. I recognised some of the digits.

I saved the number before looking at the texts.

Hey it's Patrick. Thanks for last night. Ring me if you ever want to talk.

I was freaking out big time. And that's not like me.

By the way I hope your okay.

Dee was going to faint. I almost forget to text back.

This is Paige. You were great last night. And don't worry about me, I'm fine. I hope your okay too. Xx

Oh no why did I send kisses.

Ha ha, it's not everyday you get to text the Patrick Stump. Sorry I didn't text earlier, I lost the number.

Now it looked like I'm making excuses. And I didn't want to make him think I was some over excited fangirl. Okay maybe I was a little bit, but it was Patrick Stump and I didn't need him to know that.

I really needed to calm down. I took some deep breaths before I hyperventilated. It helped. Then I heard the knock on the door and I knew it was Dee and Mels. All that calming down for nothing.

"Did you text him?!?!?" I had no time to get to the door because Dee came running in.

"Well hi to you too," I laughed.

"Hey Paige," Mels said.

"Well thanks. And yes Dee, he texted me. Twice."

She squealed and then grabbed my phone from me, "What did he say?!?"

Her eyes were glued to the screen and Mels was over her shoulder, looking in too.

"What do you mean you lost the number?" Dee looked up at me.

"It dropped underneath the wardrobe. What? I'm not lying, it was an accident."

"Right...so you didn't do it on purpose."

"YES!"

"I believe you Paige. I can't believe Patrick Stump texted you," Mels hugged me.

"Either can I. Last night was so weird."

"Do you want to come back to ours and stay the night?" Mels and Dee shared an apartment. They wanted me to live there too, but there was no room.

"Sure why not? I want to hear all the details from your weekend away." I ran up to my room and they followed.

"Don't you have work in the morning?" Dee looked confused.

"Trust you to only hear one part of the story. I told you, I lost my job because I quit remember? When I got hit in the face by my ex-boss and Patrick defended me?"

"OMG! I forgot about that, he is like the most amazing person ever. And brave, your ex-boss is such an ass, but really tall and well...Patrick's not."

"Dee!" Mels shot her a look, "are you okay?" She looked worriedly at me.

"Ya, I'm fine now. Just when he hit me it brought back a few memories. But you're right Dee, Patrick is amazing."

Mels hugged me again and so did Dee. "Paige Stump, that so works," Dee giggled like a little girl.

"Diana Cooper, Patrick Stump is not my boyfriend!" She threw a pillow at me, she hates when anyone calls her that.

"Oh but he will be once he gets to know you."

"I wish," I laughed along. "Like that would ever happen."

As usual I hoped you liked this chapter. Xx

I hope Dee isn't too annoying, but I think she's just like an over excited puppy.
