The door behind me opened. I turn around to see who it was. Nick walks in with a frown. Then he sees me and plasters a fake smile on his face.

"Hey, you're awake," he says. "I'm glad to see you're fine and well......No hard feelings, right?"

My hands ball into fists. Anger starts rising inside me. I try to control my anger by doing my breathing exercises, but it doesn't work. I turn around so I don't have to look at his face.

"I wish there weren't," I say through gritted teeth.

"Aw, Jade," he says. "It was necessary. Don't be mad at me."

I turn around and face him. "Terry explained it to me. I can't leave this place," I say in a more calm voice.

He looks at Terry behind me. "You told her?" He asks sounding almost incredulous.

Terry nods. "It kind of slipped out of my mouth," he replies.

"Well she was going to find out anyway." He shrugs and walks past me.

"She's hungry," Terry tells him as Nick passes him.

Nick stops and looks back at me. "Would you like some pancakes or toasted bread?" He asks me in the nicest voice.

I couldn't hold a grudge against him. He was just so nice. I smile and reply, "Toast, please."

He nods and walks into the kitchen. I follow him and Terry follows me. I take a seat in one of the chairs while Nick takes out the bread.

"Do you have tea?" I ask.

"Yeah. Terry, can you make some for her," Nick says.

Terry nods back at him.

"So... you're the cook," I ask Nick.

"Well Terry would cook if he knew how. His cooking is terrible. Only the wild animals like it," Nick replies.

"Hey I'm not so bad," Terry chimes in. "I would cook, but I enjoy your food too much."

Nick stops what he's doing and looks at him. A mischievous smile in his face. "Fine, tonight you can cook for Jade and I," he says.

Terry turns a slight shade of red but doesn't show any signs of being nervous. "Ok. I'll cook for you," he says defiantly.

Nick goes back to what he was doing and Terry starts boiling water. I feel a bit like a lazy guest. I should do something to help. Maybe I could wash the dishes or sweep the kitchen. Then I remembered if it weren't for them I wouldn't even be here. I decide to wait calmly for my breakfast.

"There wasn't anymore mauliy tasting mellakin. She'll have to eat the seuckice tasting one," I hear Nick tell Terry.

"She won't like it. The taste is so disgusting," he replies.

"Yeah I know that, but she needs it," Nick says.

"Are you talking about something else you can drug me with," I speak up.

They both stop what they are doing and look at me.

"Jade, we won't drug you again. We promise," Nick says.

He probably felt guilty; which made me feel good. I'm such a terrible person. "But you were talking about me, right?"

They look at each other and interchange another telepathic conversation.

"You could understand us," Terry asks me incredulously.

For some reason, me understanding them wasn't a normal thing.
