~Epilogue~
~~~~~~~NEXT DAY~~~~~~~~~
I laid my back on my bed after dinner, thinking over all that's happened in the past few days. Shuddering to myself, I decided never to step another foot in a zoo. At all, ever. Someday when my children beg me to take them, I'll just tell them to get back inside the house and I'll invite our friends and family over. That'll be a zoo alright. Chuckling lightly to myself, I couldn't help but wonder what would've happened if we didn't escape.
Would we have to tell the people at the zoo what we were? Change in front of them? Nah..they'd probably let us go, just to put us into a mental asylum. Plus, we're bound to secrecy, so it'd be pointless to tell. Sighing, I sat up when I heard a light knock at my door.
I opened it to see my mom, who walked in and gave me yet another bone-crushing hug. She's done that just about every few hours since we all arrived home last night. Since Kat's dad worked in the airport, we were all able to get on the standby list to get back home. Just as I suspected, Kat's dad was a Change too, and looked almost identical to the girl. I can definitely see where she got her looks from.
I closed my eyes, savouring the hug of my protective mother. Apparently her, dad, and the rest of the parents all went crazy, calling all the Changes they know to see if we showed up at their homes. They even called some of their friends in the next county over, who were part of the law enforcement. They really must love us, I guess.
I was still totally exhausted from the long days of stressing out, so I released the hold I had on my mom, told her that I was going to bed, and got changed. Slipping into my warm covers, I took a deep breath. Home sweet home.
