~Chapter Seven~

Tonight is the night. In just fifteen more minutes, we'll be out of here, I thought to myself. The zoo has already closed, and we were all just sitting around, waiting for the janitors and such to go home, and the guards to lock the gates.

We'd already decided to shift to our human forms, and hide in the foliage of each of our exhibits until the giant clock in the zoo started chiming again. That was the signal that it was ten at night, and to shift into our animals to start the escape.

For the rest of the time in my body, I lazily stretched in my position behind a set of bulky shrubs in the tiger exhibit. Staring into the darkness, I listened to the peaceful sounds of the night. Owls hooting, crickets chirping with one another, and just basking in the overall silence.

About to doze off, I sat straight up, looking wildly around as the clock started loudly chiming. It's ten already. Just as I was getting comfortable, I have to break myself and some friends out of a zoo at night. Go figure, I muttered to myself in my head.

I quickly changed into my tiger, and got used to the sharper senses and feel of the additions to my body. I swished my tail and sat back on my haunches, sending a message out to everyone.

Hey, everyone there?

I got a response from each of them saying yes, so I continued.

Okay, everyone knows what the basic idea is right?

Everyone said yes once more, so I decided to start with the plan.

Okay, Becca, Leah, and Sarah, go scout and find the guard, Kat says it's the only woman on duty tonight. Find her, then wait until she falls asleep.

Okay, do we wait a few mintues after she's asleep to make sure we won't wake her up?

Asked Becca.

Thinking that that made a lot of sense to do, I replied,

Yeah, that sounds good. Then just remember; do this as quietly and carefully as you can! We can't have her waking up!

I said once again (for about the fifth time in the past three hours as we went over the plan together throughout the day).

We know, we know,

Laughed Sarah.

At that, the three flew through the mesh ceiling of their aviary and started scoping for the gaurd.

Hearing them all fly out from the aviary with my sharpened hearing, I got comfortable and waited.

We found her. It's the fat one right?

called out Becca.

Kat replied quickly with a small snort,

Yeah, that's her.

Hey, at least we've gotten somewhere with this then, I thought to myself with a slight smile. Hearing the excitement in his voice as though he were jumping up and down, Nick chimed in,

Guys, I so can't belive that we're getting out tonight!

Just because we have a plan doesn't mean we're necessarily getting OUT tonight man,
