Wow, grade nine. Hazel thought. I'm going to be a freshman.

Hazel had been preparing for this day for about a month, making sure she watched every highschool movie on Netflix and every 'highschool survival' type video on YouTube. She made sure to go shopping A LOT just to buy anything she may or may not need for the first year of highschool. Clothes was a need. She bought everything from bags to shorts. She was as ready for today then she'll ever be.

On Hazel's way to the bus stop, Rowan called her.

"Hey," Hazel answered. "Are you ready for the first day of school."

"Nope," Rowen replied. "I have no idea what to wear!"

"Just wear a dress like you always do." Hazel suggested.

"Okay," Rowan paused. "But which one?"

"I don't know." Hazel laughed at her friend being stupid.

"Okay," Rown said. "I have to go or I'm going to be late!"

"Okay," Hazel laughed at how worried her best friend was. "I'll see you at school."

And with that, Hazel hung up and put her phone in her pocket and continued walking. As soon as she got to the bus stop, she saw that Kara was already there, waiting.

"Hazel!" Kara waved towards her. "Hi!"

"Hey, Kara!" Hazel said as she ran towards the bus stop. "How was your Summer?"

"Decent," Kara replied. "I got my sleep back on track, went to a 5SOS concert and ate a lot of food. What about you?"

"Good, I went to visit some family in Dallas for most of the Summer." Hazel explained.

She thought about telling Kara that she had been planning for this day all Summer, but decided against it.

The bus came by and Kara and Hazel hopped on. They went to take a seat at the front and saw that Gwendolyn was already on the bus.

"Gwen!" Kara exclaimed. "How was your Summer?"

"Good." Gwen replied. "What about you two?"

"I went to a 5SOS concert and slept a lot." Kara explained.

"Mine was pretty good, too." Hazel smiled.

"Well it's over now." Kara and Hazel nodded and frowned.

"Yeah," Hazel said. "I wish we still had a week or two."

"Same," Kara agreed. "I barely had enough time to get everything in my bag today."

"Wow, really?" Gwen asked. "It took me about a day or two to go out and buy everything."

"Yeah but I'm lazy." Kara replied with a laugh.

As the bus arrived at the school, the girls got out of the bus and walked towards the main entrance where all the homeroom classes were posted.

Mrs. Walters, blah blah, Hazel, blah blah blah, Kara, Rowan, blah blah blah, Harper, blah blah, JAMES?! Hazel thought to herself, and clearly wasn't happy about James being in her class.

She checked the class list to see if it was the James from grade 5.

James Lewis

Yup, it definitely was.

"Well shit." Hazel said under her breath.

"Aw do you not wanna be in a class with me?" Kara asked jokingly.

"No," Hazel laughs. "It's nothing."

"Hazel," Kara whined. "Tell me."

"Just look at who's in our homeroom." Hazel relied. "You'll see what's wrong."

Kara quickly skimmed through the class list when she suddenly saw a name. James. Kara turned to Hazel with a huge smirk on her face.

"James!" Kara yelled. "You like James!"

"Kara!" Hazel said as she started getting annoyed. "Shut the fuck up. And no I don't."

"Girl yes you do," Kara smirked. "Denial is the first step."

"Omigod Kara," Hazel rolled her eyes. "You're so annoying."

"That I am." Kara agreed.

Just then, Harper, James and Nickolas walked through the main doors and joined Kara and Hazel.

"Oh hey guys." Kara said, smirking. "Harper and JAMES are in our homeroom."

Hazel elbowed Kara in the stomach, causing her to fall to the floor.

"What the fuck was that for!?" Kara whined in pain. "By the way, I never knew you were that strong."

Everyone was laughing except Kara because she was too busy holding her stomach. After what seemed like hours to Kara, Harper finally came and helped her up.

"Thank you." Kara dusted herself off as Kristen came over.

"What did I miss?" Kristen questioned.

"This little shit," Kara said as she gestured to Hazel. "Elbowed me really hard in the tummy."

"Damn," Kristen replied to what Kara had just told her. "Nice one Hazel."

Kara gave Kristen an 'Oh no you didn't' look and put her hand on her chest in disgust.

By the time we started talking again, Niall had come, so James, being one of his minions, walked over to them.

"All the guys basically worship him." Harper changed the subject.

"Yeah," Kara agreed. "It's kind of funny, though."

"Where do we go for the homeroom classes?" Gwen asked.

"Oh, we just need to go to the room number." Hazel replied, being the way too prepared person in the group for today. "It's 8:15, we should probably get going if we want to make it to class on time.

"Wow," Lillian said as she joined in on the conversation. "I never thought you'd be the prepared type."

"Same." Harper, Kristen and Kara replied in sync.

The girls all started walked around the maze called school, trying to find their homeroom, 296. Hazel, Kara, Harper and Rowan walked into the classroom thinking they looked like 'squad goals', but instead, when they all tried to walk through the doors together, they wouldn't fit through so they all tripped and almost fell.

"We did that on purpose." Kara said as she balanced herself.

"Yeah," Harper laughed. "Totally."

They looked around to see that there was no one in the class room. With a sigh of relief, they all decided to head to their lockers first before they brought everything to class. They had signed in a week before and already knew their locker numbers, so they headed in different directions to their lockers.

Hazel headed to her locker and saw group of familiar boys walking the same direction, only to find that James' locker was across from hers. One of the boys caught her looking and walked over to her, it was James...
