"So I will be putting you all into pairs for this project." Mrs. Dalilia told the class. "It will be same-sex partners because you may or may not need to work on this project out of school, and I'm not sure if all parents would allow their children to meet with the opposite gender alone."

Hazel stared at the whiteboard in boredom, while still also listening. She wanted to protest about how the students should pick their own partners but she already knows the response. It's always the same. This will give you a chance to work with new people, or, You won't get any work done when you're with your friends.

"The partners are," Mrs. Dalilia spoke. "Kara and Harper, Emily and Rosie,"

Hazel kept listening for her name until it finally came.

"Katie and Hazel." Mrs. Dalilia said.

Hazel looked around to find Katie Lewis. She was wearing very simple clothing and seemed nice.

"Alright," Mrs. Dalilia said when she was finally done naming all the pairs for the science project. "If everyone could please go sit with their partners, please."

Everyone moved around the class room to sit with their assigned partners with a few groans, Hazel quickly walking over to Katie's desk and sat beside her.

"Hey, I'm Hazel." Hazel introduced herself. "You're Katie, right?"

"No I'm just some random college student that's taking grade 9 science all over again." Katie giggled at her own sarcasm and Hazel joins in.

"So when do you want to meet up?" Hazel asked, changing the topic.

"We can meet up at my house tomorrow right after school." Katie suggested. "I'm free then."

"I'm free, too." Hazel replied. "I'll ask my mum later and I'll text you if I can. What's your number?"

"Damn are you hitting on me?" Katie joked. "Here."

Hazel handed Katie her phone as Katie typed in her phone number. What Katie was done that, she gave Hazel her phone back and smiled.

Hazel looked down and saw that the contact Katie made for herself and laughed.

"Katester Gangster?" Hazel raised an eyebrow at Katie with a questioning look. "Really?"

"Yup," Katie frowned. "I thought it was really good."

Hazel quickly typed a 'hi' on her phone and sent it to Katie. Once Katie got the notification, she nodded at Hazel and smiled.

Before Katie could say anything, the bell rang, indicating it was lunch. Katie waved goodbye to Hazel and quickly walked out the door. Hazel packed up and walked with the crowd of students out the door to her locker. Before James could walk over to her and humiliate her again, she ran off to the cafeteria.

Hazel saw Kara and Harper sitting at their usual table. As she was walking towards them, she overheard them talking about Asher and his 'group'. They were already popular even though they were freshmans.

"Yeah, I know right?" Harper said agreeing with Kara. "They're actually really s-"

"Oh hey," Kara said, cutting Harper off, but Harper seemed to be okay with it when she saw Hazel. "What's up."

"Nothing," Hazel replied. "What are you talking about?"

"Nothing." Harper said immediately.

"I'm going get some food," Kara stood up. "I think it's Taco Tuesday."

"Yeah, I'm coming, too." Harper said, walking off with Kara.

"Okay." Hazel whispered to herself.

Hazel took her lunch bag and took out a turkey sandwich. What's going on? Hazel wondered. Are they hiding something from me? She looked up from her food and saw Harper and Kara in the lunch line with Kristen, Neilson and Nickolas. They were laughing then Skylar joined them.

"Hey," James said, smirking as he sat down beside Hazel. "What's up pretty lady?"

"Ha ha," Hazel faked a smile. "Bye."

She packed up her food and walked away to find another table. She turned around only to see that James was following her, food in his hand, smirking.

"What do you want?" Hazel asked annoyed.

"Well, I want to sit beside you," James said sounding oh so very innocent. "But you got up and moved so I did, too."

"Okay well can you like maybe not do that?"

"Nope."

"Why?"

"Because I don't want to."

"Good for you." Hazel stuck her middle finger up in James' face and walked away.

"Wow very effective!" James yelled at Hazel, causing the entire cafeteria to turn their heads towards the two. "Very sexy!"

"Fuck. You." Hazel said under her breath and walked towards Skyler and everyone else.

They were all giving her confused looks as Kara and Kristen were wiggling their eyebrows at her.

"So," Neilson said. "What was that about?"

"Nothing." Hazel rolled her eyes.

"Uh, I don't think that was 'nothing'." Kara smirked.

"What's the ship name?" Skylar asked.

"How's Jamel?" Harper laughed at her own suggestion.

"Ew no," Hazel disapproved. "That sounds so dumb."

"Hames?" Kara suggested.

"No," Harper disagreed. "Cause that could be me or Hazel's sister. That would be kind of weird."

"Let's just go with Jamel." Neilson interrupted. "The stupider the ship, the realer."

"Is realer even a word?" Nick asked.

"I dunno, probably not," Neilson answered. "But you get what I mean."

Hazel was about to protest when a pair of cold, skinny hands covered her eyes.

"Hey Hazey Baby," James whispered in her ear. "I've missed you."

Hazel could hear everyone around her smirking. She could fucking HEAR them smirking. She suddenly felt hands on both her sides as she squealed for help. She hated being tickled. As Hazel fell to the ground, the hands on her eyes uncovered her face as she let her eyes soak in the way to bright light.

"What the fuck?" Hazel asked annoyed. "Why the fuck would you do that?"

"Cause I wanted to." James shrugged.

"Ew," Neilson said, giving James a confused look. "Why would you want to touch... her?"

"Wow thanks Neilson." Hazel said getting up.

"That's n-not what I meant." James said as his face turned a light shade of pink. "I have to go."

James quickly walked away as Neilson and Nick high-fived. Kara, Kristen and Harper just laughed and Skylar was wiggling her eyebrows at Hazel.

"Fuck you guys," Hazel lightly punched Skyler. "I hate you."

"Looks like someone's got an admirer!" Skylar devilishly smirked.
