A week of school can really tire someone out. But the first week was different. So much homework. Hazel thought wrong when she told herself that the first month wouldn't be too bad, since it was only the first month.

Hazel had finally finished all her homework and decided to check her phone, since she hadn't checked in about two hours. Wow, Hazel thought. New record.

There were a few texts, three from Kara, two from Harper and four from Rowan.

Kara Kat

HeY

tHere'S a PaRTy tonight Do YOu wANt TO CoME?

HazEL? ArE yOu ThERe?

Hazel laughed at her friend's different way of typing. She quickly texted back.

Hazel

Yeah sure I'll have to ask though

Are you going?

Nice typing skills btw

She exited out of the chat and tapped on Harpers name.

Harps

Hey did you hear?

There's a party tonight, you coming?

Just as Hazel was about to reply to Harper, she got a notification form Kara. She quickly tapped on the notification, taking her to the previous chat with Kara.

Kara Kat

YeAH, HaRPer aNd I ARe gOiNG

Hazel

Oh okay, I'll go ask brb

Hazel went back to her chat with Hannah.

Hazel

Yeah I'm gonna go ask brb

Hazel placed her phone on her bed and quickly made her way to the kitchen where her Mom was.

"Hey mom?" Hazel asked her under-protective mother.

"Yes sweetie?" Hazel's mom replied, still facing the stove. "What is it?"

"Kara and Harps are going to this party tonight," Hazel said as sweetly as she could. "Can I go? I finished all my homework."

"Yeah sure hon," Hazel's mom said turning around with a straight face. "But I'm not driving, so you'll have to get a ride from a friend, and no drinking, I don't want you to have a hangover tomorrow. We have to meet up with some family friends in the morning."

"Okay, okay," Hazel rolled her eyes. "I won't drink, and I'll be back by 11."

"Hazey," Hazels mom said with a straight face. "You'll be back by 10."

"Sure," Hazel smiled as she gave her mom a hug and ran upstairs. "THANK YOU!"

"NO PROBLEM, WHEN ARE YOU LEAVING HON?" Hazel's mom yelled from downstairs.

"WHAT TIME IS IT!" Hazel yelled in response.

"2:57!"

"OKAY, THEY SHOULD BE PICKING ME UP IN ABOUT THREE HOURS." Hazel guessed.

"ALRIGHT SWEETY."

She walked towards her bedroom door, when her sister, Hailey, stopped in front of her. Hailey was in grade 7 at the moment and was already almost as tall as Hazel.

"Where you going tonight?" Hailey asked.

"No where." Hazel replied.

"It sure didn't sound like it."
