"So tonight at 6?" Hazel asked through the phone.

Hazel and Katie were planning to meet up at Katie's house for their science project. Hazel was quite excited because she loved making new friends but she was also a bit nervous since she knows that she can be quite the bossy partner.

"Yeah," Katie confirmed. "Sounds good. There's a dollar store around the block so we can get some supplies."

"Alright, do you want me to bring anything?" Hazel asked.

"Money would be good since we have to buy stuff." Katie replied.

"Okay, see you in 2 hours!" Hazel said.

"See ya." and with that, Katie hung up.

Hazel put the home phone down and looked around her room for some spare change. She ended up with $17.75 and quickly went to pack everything she needed. Even though she was leaving in two hours, Hazel wanted to be prepared and ready. First project of the year.

While Hazel was debating on whether to make a Bristol board presentation or a slide show, her mother entered her room with a cooking apron on.

"Dinner's ready." Hazel's mom told her.

"What!?" Hazel was confused. "What time is it?"

"It's..." Hazel's mom took out her phone from her back pocket and turned it on. "5:23"

"Oh wow, I guess time does fly."

"It sure does, hun."

"Oh mom can I go to a friends house for a project?"

"What time?"

"At 6," Hazel replied. "I know it's really soon, I just forgot to ask when you came home."

"Alright, but you have to eat first."

"Okay I'm coming."

"Oh and I can't drive you."

"That's fine, I'll just walk."

As Hazel and her mom walked down the stair towards the kitchen. She found her dad and sister already sitting at the table, ready to eat. There was some chicken and other food, but Hazel only ate the salad, since she vegetarian.

"Who made the salad?" Hazel asked.

"I did!" Hailey replied. "Do you like it?!"

"I love it." Hazel said with a sincere smile.

"Hazel honey," Hazel's dad asked. "Are you feeling alright?"

"Yeah why?" Hazel replied.

"You're being nice to your sister." Hazel's dad pointed out. "That's not normal."

"I'm just in a good mood." Hazel smiled.

When Hazel was finished her dinner, she went back to her room to pack up a few things for Katie's house since it was already 5:30 and she should be leaving in about 15 minutes.

When she was done packing up, Hazel took out her phone and went in Instagram. She scroller through her feed and found a photo of James with another girl. Since it was a mirror selfie and the flash was on, she couldn't exactly see who the girl was. The caption read: love this one. Hazel had felt a bit of jealousy from this. She tapped on the photo to see if the girl was tagged, which she was. She tapped on the account and found that the girl was someone she knew. Katie? Hazel thought. My science partner? Are they dating? I wish I was her. Hazel cringed at her own thoughts. She knew she was sounding stupid, not only to herself, but if she had said it out loud... Let's just say it may or may not be an embarrassing experience.

Once she noticed it was already 5:48, Hazel quickly took her backpack and went downstairs. She said good bye to her mom and dad, and Hailey who was in the family room watching tv.

Hazel put on her mint Vans and headed out the door.
