Joey was only able to last until June before he started letting Daniel be in his videos.
Not as a boyfriend. As "Daniel. The boy I kissed in a music video once."
Daniel seemed a bit surprised when Joey decided, on a trip to England, to point the camera at a Daniel for a change, and introduce him, but he quickly realized that Joey was finally giving him a chance to be a part of Joey's online life.
Surely enough, after the Don't Wait video came out, rumors definitely started to circulate. Devoted 'shippers' soon began to pop up all over the place, and Joey had to admit, it was very..interesting.
There was a ton of fanfiction about Joey before the video, but after Daniel was added to the mix, there were countless fanfictions about the two of them, putting them into so many different, and sometimes ridiculous, situations.
There was art that was made, as a tribute to the love everyone believed Joey and Daniel shared. Some of it was incredibly beautiful. Joey would save them and put them all into a folder on his computer so he had a big collection of drawings of he and Daniel. Some of them were definitely inappropriate, and Joey tended to avoid them, most of the time at least.
The most noticeable change was that literally everywhere, there were questions about their relationship. Tweets, Instagram comments, YouTube comments, everywhere, people would ask questions.
There were tumblr blogs dedicated to proving that #Janiel was canon.
That was the creepier side of things.
People would analyze anything they possibly could, looking for Daniel. They noticed the wearing each other's clothes. They noticed Daniel's pictures with Wolf. They had pictures from his old videos where Daniel had been sitting in the background, and Joey had accidentally gotten him in the shot.
Yeah, they were that detailed.
Daniel was actually the one who first introduced Joey to #Janiel.
Daniel: "Oh my God, Joey, go on Instagram and look at the #Janiel tag."
Joey: "All we did was kiss???"
Daniel: "Tbh, I kinda knew they were going to think we were dating. Because. You know. We are."
Joey: "Yeah, but they aren't supposed to know that. It was even your request that we didn't let them know that."
Daniel: "It wasn't ALL my request, you lying pig. You agreed that you'd feel more comfortable not sharing too many details with them."
Joey: "Okay, okay, fine. They think what they think."
Daniel: "Have you seen the fanfiction?"
Joey: "Omg no."
Daniel: "When I come over, we should read some together."
Joey: "That's scary, Daniel."
Daniel: "It'll be fun, I promise."

"Daniel kissed Joey roughly on the mouth, pulling him even closer and passionately whispering in his ear..." Daniel cut himself off as he read from his phone, sitting on top of Joey as he did so. He leaned closer to Joey's ear, sort of acting out the fanfiction. "YOU'RE A PIG IN A WIG."
"Ouch! You jerk!" Joey laughed, grabbing the phone from Daniel to see what the fanfiction actually said. "Woooah, it's a good thing you didn't say that."
"I know, that's why I made the substitution," Daniel chuckled, stealing back his phone and sliding off of Joey.
Joey watched Daniel, looking through the #Janiel tag a little more.
"This whole shipping thing is both a blessing and a curse, isn't it?" Joey inquired after awhile.
"I guess. Because sometimes, you get hardcore sex fanfiction. But other times, you get cutesy art."
Daniel held up the phone, showing a painting of the famous kiss from Joey's music video.
"That's something I wouldn't mind recreating.." Joey smiled a little, as Daniel pulled him in for a kiss, one that lasted far longer than the original.
