Simon’s arms were strong and protective around Isabelle’s body. He could feel her drifting off to sleep. Since his transformation there was no real need for him to sleep just like breathing. He could do it but it done his body no good, considering all his major organs were dead like his heart.
But moments like this made him feel alive again. He missed being the person he was before. He had grown to cope with his vampirism, it was his way of life but he never really felt like he was living just coasting through the emotions. But with Izzy it was almost like his heart beat again. She brought him back to life, so to say.
Clary was his best friend of course but lately he had to be worried for her. She had a lot of her plate and with her older brother things were always on the verge of disaster. Even though everything Clary was a reminder of who he was, the mundane boy with glasses who loved comics.
With Isabelle, it is a different story. She pushes him to be who he is now. She encourages him to not fight his vampirism. She’s spontaneous and she keeps him off guard, in the best way possible. With Clary he always had to fight for his place beside her but with Isabelle, she fights to keep him. Simon can feel himself falling hard and fast in love and the best thing about it is Isabelle is falling just as hard fast with him.
Simon never cared what Isabelle wanted to do, he would never object to spending a moment with her. So they spent the rest of the night together, his arms wrapped protectively around her resting body. He had told her before he would come just to lay with her if she wanted and he’s not one to break his word.
