11's POV: Age: 15

I found myself walking along the alleyway, feeling the warmth of Roger's jacket which honestly smelled like cheese sticks that they always fed us. I thought of the number 11 which was my age about a while ago.

11 stood for the age I was when Watari and L had died.

11 stood for the age I was when Near left to be the next L.

11 stood for the age I was when I ran away from the orphanage.

But I'm still that little weak girl from that time.

I sighed in sadness and looked at the alleyways which creeped me out. Even though the sun was shining, the alleyways were the darkest part of the streets.

Vandalism, the smell of trash and rotten eggs, looking like almost everyone would die if they ever entered it. I was thinking of the horror books that Watari would-

Nevermind...

"Hey!" I heard someone exclaim and was suddenly muffled. In a distance, I could see a woman being strangled to death by a man with a mask on.

No one cared..

I was scared out of my mind when someone had held up a gun to my head.

"Don't. Move," someone said in a cold tone. However, the voice didn't seem to be a British accent. More, American.

I heard that Near had went to America so he could be the next L. I was actually impressed that he got Mello so outraged that he started a mafia group and kidnapped a Japanese director.

I knew this from, Watari..

So maybe, if I go with this guy, I might have a chance to see Near. But if so, then why would he be holding a gun up to my head. I didn't turn to look at the man and I was frozen in place as I almost felt like I could cry.

I was that weakling and dumb person that Mello and Matt have always thought of me as.

"I believe that you have known Mello before. Well, he's dead," someone said as my eyes widened as I thought of my past. But for some reason, I'm not...sad. "I guess you should have known Matt as well. He's dead, too," the same voice had said just chuckled. I started to quiver as I held back my tears.

"And Near? Haha..," he continued to laugh as a single tear had fell down from my eyes and ran down my cheek.

"N-Near?" I asked in a hush tone. I've never been outside the boundaries of the orphanage but, is this how the real world is?

"Stop! Right there!" I heard a woman's voice in an American accent as she held a gun in her hand, aiming for the man who had held a gun to my temple. She had blonde hair and had yellow Amber eyes similar to an eagle. In a distance, I could read something that said SPK on her shirt.

The group that Near worked for?

"HAHAHAHAHAHA! One more step, lady, and I'll be shootin' this little kid!" He exclaimed as the lady had shot his gun away from my head. My eyes widened as this has to be one of the most scariest experiences of my life.

"Gah!" The man exclaimed in pain and went on his knees to find out that he's been shot in the shoulder. I stepped away and covered my mouth as the woman from the SPK walked closer to me.

"Are you alright? Are you hurt?" She asked reassuringly. I shook my head and wrapped myself around Roger's jacket.

"Near? Wh-Where's near?" I asked the lady. Her eyes widened in shock as she took out her phone and talked in it.

"Near, there's a girl, about 12-13, she wants to know if she could speak to you," the woman said. I raised one eyebrow and lifted up the hood.

"I'm 15," I told her.

The woman was a bit silent on the phone as she spoke into it once more. "Yes, I understand," the woman said as she handed the phone to me. "It's for you."

I held the phone in my small hands as I held it up to my ear like she did, confused on how to work a phone. "Hello?" I called out silently in the phone. "Near?"

The phone was silent for a while. In about 5-10 seconds I could hear his voice.

"11?" He asked, shocked. His voice, sounded different from when he left the orphanage. Tears welled up in my eyes as I nodded and smiled.

"Yes, it's me! 11 from the Wammy's House!" I exclaimed, happy to hear his voice that I haven't heard in four years.

"What happened? How did Lidner find you? Did you run away?" He asked on the phone.

"Yes," I replied.

"11! If you left the orphanage, then you'll have to sense of protection! It was a good thing that Lidner had found you. Linda stayed, right?" Near asked.

I shook my head and replied saying, "She left to be a police sketch artist. She gave sketches of you and Mello to the Japanese Police, from what I heard from Roger."

"So you were the only one left?" Near asked.

"Pretty much," I said.

Near sighed and slightly chuckled as I could heard the clicking of his puzzles in the background. "Your still the same as ever, 11. Just stick with Lidner she'll direct you. I don't want you to end up like Beyond Birthday and A did," he said as the clicking of his puzzles stopped, which meant he had finished it.

"I'll be able to see you soon, 11," Near said on the phone. I smiled and nodded in agreement.

"I'll see you, Near," I said as I gave the phone back to Lidner.

"Come along, Near wants to see you," Lidner said as I disguised myself by hiding my face and most of my body with Roger's jacket. I sighed and continued to walk, until we reached a plane.

Lidner and I took our seats as I immediately fell asleep like I would, normally.

In that dream, I dreamt of Winchester and all of us still being kids. Watari still alive, L still alive, it was a peaceful place.
