After dinner Jensen and I take Lauren back to our place. She looks around the mansion. "This place is huge. I bet it was great to live in these houses growing up, joy."
I shake my head. "Living in luxury isn't always a good thing, Lauren. I was treated badly by or Aunt and Uncle. They never cared for me. What makes you think they actually care about you? They're both selfish snd self absorbed. But, if you want to get to know them I shouldn't stop you from doing that."
She looks at me and shakes her head. "I don't want to know them. They seem like horrible people. I don't want them in my life if that's the way they treated my Big Sister. Was it a coincident that you showed up at the restaurant tonight?"
I nod. "Jensen and I normally spend dinner at home. He wanted to take me out for some reason and he chose that place. I'm actually glad that he chose to go tonight. I got to find you. Even though I didn't know you existed."
Lauren hugs me. "I was going to look you up. But, with the way tonight went you probably wouldn't have believed me."
Jensen enters the living room and he looks at us. "I ordered Chinese for dinner. I'm sorry you ladies didn't have a chance to eat anything at the restaurant."
I rise and move into his arms. "You don't need to apologise. We just needed to get Lauren away from the people that hurt me; my entire life."
Lauren walks over to the DVDs that are sitting against the wall. She shakes her head. "Have you watched all of these?"
Jensen moves over to her. "Yes, I have. Do you want to watch one of my fav movies with dinner?"
She smiles. "Mum, never let me watch TV with dinner. She always said 'Too much TV will rot your brain.' Then she would show me a picture of brains to freak me out. It worked most of life. Until I figured out what she was playing at."
I turn towards Jensen. "I think she was right. Let's have dinner at the table first. I want to get to know you before we have to sit through an hour and a half or two hour movie. I'd like to learn more about Mum."
Jensen walks over to the lounge and puts his feet on the coffee table. He switches the TV on and watches the sport channel.
I ignore his feet on the table for now. I turn towards my sister. "Can you tell me more about Mum?"
She opens up her bag and pulls a couple things out. She gives me a paper and I see that it is a photo of Mum.
I look like her.
Lauren looks at the picture and me. "You look like her." She looks at the table. "She was the kindest woman in the world. She opened her house to kids that lived in our street. She cooked for them and gave them enough food to take home for there families. The parents showed up at Mum's and they thanked her for her kindness. Mum didn't have much money. But, she managed to make people happy." She looks around. "You should open this place to less fortunate. They would appreciate a place like this."
Jensen turns around. "I'm not opening my house to them. But, I can buy a house in the suburbs and can help them out that way. I can get a few of my cooks to make food for them and set someone up to look after the house overnight."
Lauren rises and she runs over to Jensen. "Thank you. Can you please do a remembrance wall for my Mum." She puts her hands together and says. "Pretty, please."
Jensen nods. "Sure, do you have pictures of her?"
Lauren runs back to the table and she picks up the pictures of mum and she gives them to Jensen.
Jensen looks at the pictures and smiles. "You look like your Mum, Joy. I hope you still look this hot as we age."
Lauren laughs and high-fives Jensen.
Those two are going to be a pain in my arse.
I hear the door bell and I walk over to the door. Before I open the door I am pushed aside by Jensen.
He looks at me. "I don't want you to answer the door after the sunsets. I don't trust who can be at the door."
I shake my head. "Your security team won't let just anyone in, Jensen. Since, when did you care about my safety?"
Jensen glares at me. "From the moment we found out you could be pregnant with my child. I only want to protect you and the baby."
I cross my arms and sigh. "Fine,"
Lauren is in the corner laughing. "I wish I grew up with a father. I'm sure Mum and him would act the same way as you two."
Jensen opens the door and he pulls his wallet out of his back pocket. He speaks to the guy for a second and then he shuts the door. He looks at Lauren and I. "Baby, can you get some plates?"
I walk over the cupboard and get some plates. I carry them to the table and I sit with them.
Lauren switches off the TV. "Do you want a drink? I always get thirsty when j eat Chinese food."
Jensen laughs. "I'll have a beer. It's on the fridge door. Can you get Joy a bottle of water. There's juice or water in the fridge for you."
Lauren walks over to the fridge and she pulls out two bottles of water and a beer. She walks over to the table and puts the drinks in front of us.
Jensen opens the bags and I am assaulted by a horrible smell, that makes me gag. I rise and run straight to the bathroom.
I can't believe my favourite foods making me sick now.
When I'm finished throwing up I rise. I brush my teeth and then use mouth wash. I have tears in my eyes.
Lauren stands outside the bathroom and she has the look of confusion on her face. She looks at me. "Are you alright? Before mum died she was throwing up." She wraps her arms around me and cries.
I hug her back. I lift her chin up so she's looking into my eyes. "I'm not sick like Mum. I think I'm pregnant. I won't know for sure until tomorrow. Do you want to come either me to the appointment?" She nods. "You'll be taking the day off school. Since, you're going to live with me. I'm going to enrol you in a school close to here."
She throws her hands in the air and says. "Yes, I really didn't like the school Mum sent me too. I always knew I was better off at another school and now I get the opportunity to have a better education than the one I was having."
I shake my head. "You're too smart for your own good."
She holds my hands. "What are going to have for dinner?"
"I'll have some toast and jam. When I've finished making dinner. Let's watch the movie?"
Lauren runs to the dining room and she sits with Jensen. I make toast and then I leave the dining room before the smell gets too bad for me and I throw up again.
