Kendall and I ordered the same thing, pancakes and an egg and a few pieces if bacon.
To pass the time and to get by mind off our waitress we decided just to tell each other simple things about ourselves.
"Okay, you start." Kendall told me.
"Okay...um, my favorite color is purple." I smiled, "Your turn. "
"I was in a tornado when I was two, I lived in Kansas." He told me.
"I started dancing when I was 4." I informed him.
"I started really young too, I was 16 when I really started singing." He's smiled.
"Cool, um... I worked really hard to get where I am. I pretty much paid my own way to collage and bought my own car, and bought basically everything I have myself." I told him, trying to not get emotional in front of him.
"Really?" He asked looking concerned.
"Yeah, um, my brother Nick is probably my best friend, well he was. I haven't seen him in four years, and u haven't really heard from him in two years." I said trying to smiled. By now we were getting into a deeper conversation and I was just now realizing the diner was filling up.
"Wow, I'm sorry-" Kendall started.
"No, it's alright, the last I heard was he was singing in local bars and hotels and stuff." I sighed looking out at the busy street, still raining.
"He's a singer?" Kendall asked suddenly curious. I looked up at him and laughed.
"Yes, he's been signing since he was I high school. He was in his own band that he had in high school too. Straight A-B student, he had a free ride to collage but he blew it when he was caught in the middle of a stupid drug deal that his friends drug him into. He never knew what was going on. Got 100 community service and his friends went to jail." I paused to take a sip of my drink.
Kendall let me continue, knowing I wasn't done talking yet. "My mom understood, surprisingly, and let him stay until he was 19 or so, then he left saying he was going out to Hollywood or LA, to continue with his 'fallback career'. So ever since he's been singing in bars and stuff." I laughed a little when I finished realizing how ridiculous my family and life was.
Kendall furrowed his brows thinking.
"What?" I asked.
"Just thinking." He looked out the window when I had been looking. "How much older is he?"
"He's...4 years older than me, so he's 24 now." I answered. "Why?"
"I just wondering, but you haven't ran into him while you've been out here?" Kendall asked.
"Nope, not yet anyway." I pressed my lips together raising my eyebrows.
"We'll maybe you will sometime. " Kendall reassured me.
"Yeah, I kinda hope, the. I'll be able to catch up am with him or something." I smiled.
We kept talking for another ten minutes before I smelled our food coming our way.
My mouth watered when Eliza put our food in front of us.
"Okay, does everything look good?" She asked.
"Yes, thank you." Kendall answered.
"Okay then, you two enjoy." She said looking between Kendall and I.
"Thank you." I said before she turned and walked away.
Without another word Kendall and I dug in.
