(End of chapter 16) - I awoke to an extremely loud bang and screeching tires as Kendall hit the breaks hard, quickly. My eyes snapped open and all I saw was a car being pushed forcefully across the road into the sidewalk and headlights of a car coming straight at us, I couldn't find my voice to say anything, I just froze in panic.

Kendall hit the breaks and swung the car around purposely to avoid being hit by the oncoming car. We stopped about five feet away from a light pole and the other oncoming car came to a screeching stop on the other side of the road.
My heart felt like it was going to explode, I thought it was going to beat right out of my chest. My breathing quickened as I looked at Kendall with fear. He looked back at me with pure astonishment, fear and sorrow.
"Are you okay?" He asked breathless and concerned.
"Yeah, I'm fine...Are you?"
"Yeah, just a little shaken up that's all. Neveah, I'm so sorry I-" He started to say.
"Kendall. That was not your fault. Your quick thinking saved us. So don't being saying sorry, thank you." I told him realizing what he did really did save us a pretty bad accident. He was a good driver for thinking that quick.
He just nodded his head, "We should go check on them."
I looked back to see the two cars that had collided we still sitting there with two people running up the the cars.
"Let's go." I said wanting to get them help as soon as possible.
The cars were on the other side of the street a couple hundred feet away. The silver Mercedes was pushed up against a light pole and hopefully no one was in the passengers seat. The other car which was a black Ford Taurus, the hood was mangled.
A woman from the Taurus was already out and laying on her back crying.
When we finally reached them the two men who got there before us called out, "There's still two people in the Mercedes! The gas tank is starting to leak!"
When he said the last sentence I knew it was serious, and I knew I couldn't panic or it would make it worse. I've been through this before when I was 16 with my friends.
"Kendall come on!" I called him over to the Mercedes knowing I'd need help.
"Ma'am can you hear me?" I asked when I reached the shattered window.
She didn't respond, "Ma'am can you hear me?"
I reached in and checked her pulse as I heard a toddler begin to cry.
I looked at Kendall with wide eyes, "Kendall hurry up and get her out."
The woman had a pulse but was badly bleeding on her head and was unconscious. I opened the door while the smell of gasoline fumes was getting stronger.
I reached over her and unbuckled her seat belt. The woman looked to be in there early thirties and had long brunette hair. The air bag had delpoyed so it was makeing it harder to find the seat belt bucked with just my fingers. I knew time was running out.
"How's it going back there Kendall?" I asked as I finally found the buckle.
The little girl was still crying as Kendall tried to soothe her while fumbling with the car seat buckles. "Almost have the last one undone..."

Romance"What?" I laughed again, but only because he was looking at me with that sympathetic look people have given me all my life. "But Neveah, you don't have anyone..." He spoke sadly. "But, I do. I have you," I looked over at him and a smile creeped up...
