Chapter 15
Jackson's POV
"Hold still," I exclaimed while trying to remove the bandage from her tiny wrist.
She looked up to me with those beautiful alarmed eyes, "I can do it myself.. You don't want to see them Jackson."
She pulled her wrist from my grip again and shuffled away from me on the couch. I looked at her tiny figure hunched over holding her wrist far away from my reach, a curtain of her long blonde hair obscured her face from my view.
"Malory, just please.. Let me do it. I can do it properly that way. The bandages need to be changed every two days," I exclaimed while leaning closer to her, "how about you do your stomach and thighs and I'll do your wrists?"
She hesitated for a moment before pushing her hair aside and mumbling, "fine."
I reached over grasping her tiny wrists in my oversized hands. I looked up to her face searching for any type of hurt or pain but she just stared out the window, refusing to look at me. With I sigh, I slowly and gently unraveled the bandage.
With a slight intake of breath I looked at the three angry, red lines that revealed themselves. Each had three stitches and looked out of place on her snow like skin.
I traced one with the tip of my fingertip and looked up to now meet her confused grey eyes, "does this hurt?"
She glanced down to her wrist and then back up to my face, "no.. Not really."
I averted my eyes back to her wrists. They were beautiful, fragile and delicate pieces of art with unexpected twist.
She moved uncomfortably and went to go pull her wrist from my grip again, "I told you, you wouldn't want to see them. They're disgusting and ugly."
I tightened my grip on her forearm enabling her to pull free, "no.. They're beautiful."
I leaned in to gently press three kisses to her slender wrists one to the centre of each of the three red scars. I looked up to see her looking down at me the surprised look filling her face, I continued, "they're apart of you. They're beautiful, you are beautiful."
Before I could react she was kissing me, now it was my turn to be surprised. My hand was still holding her arm but her other one came up to the side of my face and the electricity seemed to vibrate throughout my body as I wrapped my arm around her waist pulling her into my lap. My mind seemed to buzz with the thought of her lips on mine, her fingertips tracing my cheek bone and trailing down my neck.
I was the first to break from the kiss that got more heated by the moment, "what was that for?" I said breathlessly and I could feel the edges of my mouth turn up upon seeing her flushed face.
Her face flushed a beautiful pink and she smiled shyly, "just cause.."
I grinned again and resisted the urge to kiss her again, "lets finish bandaging you up first?"
She smiled again and for the first time I saw lust spread in her gaze, lust and need.
I finished wrapping both wrists up in new clean, white bandages and stood up from the couch, "you have a counselling meeting at two today and we have to do homework for the classes we are going to miss."
"I don't want to see a counsellor Jackson.." She mumbled and she turned her body away from mine looking out the window.
"You need to Malory, it's apart of the doctors orders. You aren't going back to the hospital but you will have to if you don't meet their expectations," I looked at her as she crumpled over a little more, "come on let's make some lunch and start on some of this homework."
She stood up and didn't look at me as she walked past into the kitchen taking a seat on a stool. I followed behind her and got out some bread and cheese.
We didn't speak, she quietly sat there staring at her hands while I hummed and made two sandwiches one for each of us and put them on a plate.
I pushed hers over to her and took a massive chunk out of the side mine. She looked at it and seemed to be concentrating hard before nibbling the side and putting it down again, "I'm not hungry," she stated and pushed the plate away.
"Come on Mel you need to eat something, you're too skinny," I couldn't stop the words before they came out of my mouth.
Her head whipped up and she gave me a hard glare, "good. It's better then being too fat," she said as she got off the stool and walked out of the room.
"Wait Mel," I said as I rushed out after her, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that." She was too fast and shot up the stairs.
I found her in my room curled up in a ball at the top of my bed, her hair splayed out behind her head and her knees bought up to her chest. She was shaking and I could hear her sniff every now and then, great. Good one Jackson. Fuck, I'm such an idiot. "I'm sorry Mel, I didn't mean it that way," I walked over and sat on the end of the bed.
She continued to ignore me staying in her fetas position, "Mel? Please answer me," I begged.
She uncurled from her position and looked up to me tears in her eyes and some rolling down her cheeks, "you don't know what it's like Jackson. You're a boy, you're happy when you put on weight.. It's different for girls.. especially girls like me."
She sniffled and wiped her hand across her face, sitting up, "when I put on weight it's like a stab in the chest every pound is a stab, the more pounds the more stabs.. The more it hurts. You don't know what it's like to look in the mirror and pinch and pull at everything, to hate your reflection. To refuse to eat just to wake up skinnier, to lose weight and only come to school to be called a whale. The amount of self hate I have to make myself throw up because of how disgusting I am. Do you know what that's like Jackson?"
I looked at her, her eyes started looking lost again. They were starting to look like that first time I had laid eyes on her. No crap, no.
"No, I don't," I replied honestly.
"Exactly you don't," she said bluntly.
"But," I said as moved to the side of the bed she was sitting on and laced my fingers with her bony ones, "what I do know is that you're are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. You're beautiful by your smile after I kiss you and the way your eyes lit up during our first kiss. You're beautiful by the way you get nervous and the way you care. Your nose, tummy, back, legs, chest, bum, arms, feet, toes, fingers, hands, ears they are all beautiful because they all make up that beautiful, stunning girl sitting right beside me. You're perfect to me Malory maybe you don't see it but I do."
She looked at me fumbling for words as she opened her mouth and went to say something but all that came out was a sigh and a few more tears tumbled down her cheeks. I pulled her to my chest, soothing her with calming words and running my hands through her hair and up and down my back comfortingly.
"I love you Jackson. I don't deserve you, but I love you," she muffled into my shirt, "I didn't get the chance to say it last night."
"If anything I don't deserve you, I love you too Malory," I replied and pulled away from our embrace to look into her eyes.
They shone and glimmered with hope as a smile spread across her beautiful face, I kissed her lightly and gently on the mouth and then stood up pulling her with me, "lets go finish our sandwiches."
"Okay.." She mumbled and we went back down to the kitchen together hand in hand.
