Annabeth woke up early the next morning.
The day before she had kept to her room most of the time, leaving only to get dinner long after everybody else had eaten.
Mathew didn't go looking for any fights which was fortunate. Apparently Mrs. Chase and him decided that they wouldn't tell her father about the incident which was, again, fortunate.
She went downstairs quickly knowing that, on a Sunday, nobody in her house would be up before one. Well, her father would but he would be out of the house, working.
She ate toast. She didn't want to eat too much since Piper would be picking her up to eat.
The thought was chilling in the best way, it made electricity run up her spine and she shivered.
She found the best looking outfit she had, a sun dress she had never worn because her step mother never let her leave the house for anything except school or any activity that she herself dragged Annabeth to, so most of the things in her closet were completely unused.
It felt weird wearing a dress, she hadn't worn a dress in, wow, almost, three years now. It was pretty with spaghetti straps and a complex pattern and decorated with lots of bright colors that she thought that Piper would like more than almost anything else in her wardrobe.
She tried to do something with her hair. Her curls were being as annoying as ever and she didn't like it at all.
"Come on hair work with me" she muttered to herself as she pulled at the mess on her head while looking in the mirror.
Eventually she managed to pull them up into a really tight bun. She looked at herself in the mirror.
Now that her hair didn't hang around her face framing it you could see her eyes so much clearer and how beautiful they were.
But that made her think of Piper's eyes and how much more beautiful those were in comparison. They changed color even when they were in the same light. Annabeth loved them.
Annabeth sorta liked the change of being able to see her full face. She only put on a single accessory. A dark blue ring that didn't go with the dress as well as she'd like but it was a good luck charm and she hoped it would help her sort out her feelings for Piper since she still had no idea how she felt.
It was so confusing because she had never looked at girls that way, but when she looked at Piper all she could think about was how beautiful she was, not only in her physical appearance but how kind she had been to her even if they barely knew each other.
But then again, maybe she was so exited to see Piper because of how nice the girl had been to her compared to other people who were always so rude to her.
She didn't understand if the reason why she wanted to look pretty for Piper was because she wanted her to like her or just because she wanted her friend to think that she was pretty.
Then again Piper made it very clear that she was attracted to Annabeth and wasn't ashamed in anyway which was also very confusing. Was Annabeth supposed to feel that way too or would it be fine if she only liked Piper as a friend.
Ughh all this thinking of romance and how it worked was gonna give her a headache. Whatever, all she knew was that she was really excited to see Piper and no matter what that meant she was gonna go see the girl and be happy because of that.
She gave herself another look in the mirror. She looked great. It made her smile softly. She hadn't been this dolled up in years.
She slipped on some simple sandals and sat down on her bed with a huff. She looked carefully around at her room. It was nine forty five and the entire house was silent. Nobody was up except her.
