Ch 9

"Have you decided whether or not to go to Buckner?" John asked as we ate.

I nodded. "Yeah. I start on Monday."

"It's a great school," John said nodding in approval.

"Bay and Toby go there," Kathryn added glancing from me to Jasper. "Amazing, isn't it?"

"Excuse me?" I asked.

Kathryn smiled. "You and Jasper. You two are nearly identical."

Regina crossed her arms. "They're twins, Kathryn."

I winced as everyone turned to me. Bay sighed.

"So it's true then?" Bay looked from me to Regina.

"Honey, you knew?" Kathryn looked at Bay surprised.

"I just found out," Bay said quietly. Everyone turned to Regina.

She nodded. "Yes. It's true."

"Uh Desiree?" Toby asked. "Are you okay? You look.."

I nodded rising quickly. "Where's the bathroom?"

"Uh, ill take her," Bay offered standing quickly. "Come on, this way.."

"I'm sorry about that," Bay whispered. "But, really. Are you okay? You look really upset."

"I want to go home."

"Hey, did you know you and Jasper were twins? Thats pretty cool."

"No ones ever told me."

Bay smiled weakly. "Bathrooms right there," she said nodding at the door.

"Okay, thanks." I walked in and shut the door behind me. I turned on my phone texting dad.

Me: No, come get me please

Dad replied immediately.

Dad: On my way. What happened?

I turned off my phone and walked back into the dining room.

Everyone looked up at me and we heard a car pull into the driveway.

"Uh, I have to go. My dads here." I gave Bay a small smile.

The doorbell rang. Regina swallowed as John went to open it.

"Hey," John said stepping aside so dad could come in. Dad walked in looking around the room. Hę looked at Regina for half a second and then he waved at me.

"Darling, are you ready to go?" Hę came to my side and flashed everyone a smile. "It's nice to meet you all. Hi Gina."

Regina smiled weakly. "I have to go. Daphne and I have somewhere to be in the morning."

"You've met our daughter then?" Dad placed a hand on my arm.

Regina sighed but nodded. "Yes, Angelo. We've met."

Dad looked down at me taking in my expression. "Sweetheart?"

"Daddy... can we go?" I pleaded. "I.. umm.. have to call Alex."

Dad nodded and then looked up as Bay and Jasper rose.

"Bay, you're beautiful," dad said softly. "Hello, Jasper."

Jasper nodded at him. "Bye, Desiree. It was nice meeting you."

I nodded as we followed them outside. "Gina," Dad called once Daphne and Jasper were inside.

Regina turned around slowly. Sighing I shut myself inside dads car. I've had enough of this lady for a lifetime. Although I could hear the conversation clearly.

"What happened?" dad asked looking at her curiously. "I'm sure Desiree didn't come here on purpose."

"How the hell does she know Toby?"

I looked away from them as I waited for dads response.

"Regina, she's a kid." Dad sounded angry. "She was two years old. Don't take your anger out on her."

"I'm not!" Regina exclaimed. She glanced at me and then away. "She knew I was here, and that's why she came."

"That's ridiculous, Gina."

"Did you tell her to come here?"

"No!" Dad shouted and then sighed. "I have to take my daughter home. Desiree was willing to move from Italy to see you. At the very least you could be cooperative, Gina."

Regina rolled her eyes. "Bye, Angelo."

Dad sighed and got into the car as Regina walked away.
