Chapter 8

I found myself staring into the eyes of an angel. How was he so gorgeous?

"Savannah?" He asked looking at me with fierce eyes "be careful with Cody that's all I ask. He will break girls hearts and not even care." I was moved by Garret's concerned look. For a minute my heart stopped its beat "I got a plan for Cody." I assured and walked over to Cody who was on his phone leaning against the wall.

"So, babe," Cody smirked as I got closer. He suddenly didn't seem as cute. He seemed more, normal. "You finally decided those guys are numbskulls." He stated putting away his phone.

"No actually." I started but he interrupted me. "Look Sody. I was in your mind and I know that those guys told you about my past. They're wrong. You changed me." He gave me that damn look. The one I fell in love with, the one that makes me question if he's human or from heaven. The one where he lifts his head up from the ground and squints the smallest bit from the sun behind me as he gazes in my eyes.

"God damnit Cody!" I snapped "would you stop it with that!" He stopped the look and changed it to a shocked face.

"Oh don't play dumb. You give me that flirty look with those lost puppy eyes and expect me I go sailing and have my heart stop. Well Cody. Would you just stop it! I hate that stupid look that makes me soar with love!" He looked at me like I was insane.

"What!" I screamed again.

"Nothing." He shook his head and looked down.

"Cody!" I yelled "look at me!"

He came up with that look again. "Stop it!" I snarled.

"Sody, in not doing anything. This is the same look that I give you all the time. The same look I look at everyone with. The same face that everyone sees." I felt my heart sink. Was it that he was just cute?

Shut up Savannah.

What he did was wrong.

But he admitted to it.

He's trying to keep you.

But he's being so sweet.

Knock it off!

"Cody." I said standing up straight pushing my shoulders back and chin up. "Yeah?" He asked keeping "the look" plastered on his face.

"I'm sorry. But I don't think we work." Cody's face went blank his confidence seemed to minimize. His eye-smile faded. I looked at him with sadness that I did that to him in such little time.

"I....... Understand." He choked out before walking away with his head hanging low. I felt like a dick-headed jerk. But I did what I had to. No I didn't.

I decided I'd feel better if I went back over to Garrett, Hunter, and Niki. I smiled seeing that Niki and Hunter were done with........... Never mind.

"Hey Anna, I didn't see you leave." Niki said sounding like she was drunk with her lips more purple than their usual pink. I couldn't help but smile a little. "Hello? Anna are you there?" She waved a hand in front of my face and I shoved it away.

"Oh I leaved as soon as you and Hunter started kissing." I left out the whole me seeing them nearly eat each others lips off. Niki laughed nervously "oh, that. I was hoping you didn't see." I let out a small giggle to show her not to be serious. She caught on.
