16. Motion Sickness (Cristiano Ronaldo)
"Hey Adeline?" Fernando asked through the phone. It was just past noon, and I had finished packing for my move. Cristiano was off somewhere finalizing something, and Adam was being taken care of by the nanny.
The big moving day was slowly approaching, and I couldn't be anymore anxious. I mean, come on! A brand new country, for good this time. It wasn't a vacation, I knew I'm going to have to settle there. This is exciting.
As the moving day came closer, so did the date for having dinner with Cristiano's family. I wasn't too excited about that, sure I was going to see his family and meet them, but it was your classic nervousness. Are the parents going to like you? Will the siblings approve of you? Why isn't that your baby, and het you're still taking care of it? Oh the horrors.
Needless to say, I was sure I would be ready for it.
"Yaaaaaah?" I asked, biting down to my celery stick. Where does Cris go ten thirty in the morning for? I wiped my hands after I finished it, and threw the towel I used to dry, out.
"I was wondering if I can have Adam for awhile, I mean, like-" He sighed. Something was bothering this man. But what?
"What's wrong?"
"Uhhhhhh. It may sound silly, but I'm jealous." He confessed. If I could see him now, he'd probably be looking down, scratching the back of his neck.
"Oh...of what?" I was a little nervous to see what'd he was going to say. Was he jealous of Cristiano because he liked me? But that wouldn't be possible at all, he was with Adele.
"Cristiano. He's having more Adam time with my son than I ever had with him."
"Oh it's not silly at all! I agree. And sure, sure! You can most definitely have him for a bit!" I knew how he felt. Granted, I wasn't a father, who hardly gets time with his child. I just know how it to miss someone you so love.
"Great! I was thinking I can get him soon? I mean, you and Cris are moving so I can take him off your hands for awhile."
"That'd be nice!"
"Good, good. So I was thinking I have him for two months."
"What? Too long, fuck no!" I immediately replied to him. Having my son taken away for that long is just flat out crazy. I'd miss him far too much.
"Oh come on!" He pleaded. I could hear the desperateness in his voice. I contemplated with myself. He was the father of my son, and he did have every right to be with him. Besides I got to experience his first kicks and all that with Joseph, so I guess nine months wouldn't be too bad. Sighing, I finally gave in.
"Alight. But we need to have lunch to discuss this furthermore. Alone!" I emphasized that last word. I didn't want to discuss anymore baby matters with anyone else. Plus, this was a personal thing, why have a crowd of witnesses to watch us?
"Fair enough." I could practically hear him grinning. "I'll text you the address of the restaurant."
"Okay."

The restaurant he picked wasn't even a restaurant. It was a cafe. I chuckled at his choice of meeting, and we took an outside table. I ordered a caramel frappacino, whilst he ordered a scone.
The weather was too nice to be in For the first several minutes we just discussed how we were. He had asked about the premiere, and about Adam. Both of which were great. Casual wonderments like how life had been lately.
Once we got down to business, we talked about my giving him some baby things he would need. For instance, I would give him the crib, several bottles, toys, and pacifiers also. We talked about a webcam chat every single Saturday, and call for emergencies only.
"Nando?" A familiar voice asked for him. We stopped the laughter from a joke I had just told him. (If you must know it's about a man and a woman donating something. He was donating sperm and she was giving blood. I messed up the joke a lot, so we were mostly laughing at my mistakes.) We both turned to see Adele. Let me tell you, she wasn't the least bit happy.
"Adele!" Fernando walked up to her with open arms, wrapping them around her, and kissing her on the lips. She kissed back, but her eyes were on me. I gave her a confused look.
"You said you'd be with a friend?" She looked confused as she glanced between Fernando and I.
"Uh, yeah. Hi." I waved awkwardly to my own sister. How can she not think I'm a friend of Fernando?
"Well?" She completely ignored me, looking at Fernando.
"Uh yeah. Adeline is...the friend Adele." He explained.
"Oh how long will you two be?" She looked back at me, and gave me a look. I knew what that meant. It was the back off loom she would throw at girls whenever we were on a double date. She would give it to them when she felt threatened that her date was going to be taken. So why give it to me?
"You know what? We're done here anyway. Late Dodo!" I called him by his new nickname, and he chuckled. We waved bye as I made my way home. "Later Adele!"
I dub my sister a weirdo.
