Ch ten: The Monster within

"A secret makes a woman a woman 2"

The door cracked open, even before I touched it, really creepy, I was going to take it as a bad omen. I peeked in and had to swallow hard, seeing my little sister Amari sitting beside the shoes, she had puffy eyes and a red cheek, fingers still visible on her caramel colored skin. She looked so sad, it broke my heart, just what had happened here?

Amari noticed me and put on a weak smile on her face, I stomped in the hallway and hugged her, for several silent minutes. It's not like she was crying, or holding on to me, but I needed to cool down and she helped me to.

"Sis?" My brothers interrupted us, Chris gave me my chain, which Kahn had thrown on the ground after literarily ripping it of my neck. "You have to fix it, sorry."  apologized Zack looking to the floor so I wouldn't see his blue eye.

"Thank you for picking it up, Chris" "You should go in, they are waiting, and keep cool, the thing with Amari" he stopped to look at her "has been taken care of already." an evil grin appeared on his face, and Amari chuckled beside me... well it seems I had missed a lot of good stuff.

But before I could chat with them, I had to a thing to do first. The twins would take care of Amari.

I went to the living room, my heart beating increased, I was nervous and my mouth dry. My parents and Kahn were talking in a low voice but still didn't hear me enter the room. My father muttered something about being sorry, but I didn't understand it well, while my mother had her "I'm so ashamed" face on.

I went to the middle of the room, instinctively standing straight and looking down on them. At first they were confused but Kahn coughed up a small laugh. "I suppose you have come to apologize?" he asked in Indian- language, his voice was low and firm, but his face showed that he had no idea for what I had come. I gave him a cold look, before I glanced over to my parents, my dad looked like Kahn, while my mother's wise eyes were preparing for a storm.

"I won't apologize." Was the only thing I said, while looking at my beautiful mother.

"Then leave this house! At once! You are not welcomed here if you don't apologize!" my father shouted standing up, while motioning wildly with his hands. I didn't even look at him, not budging at all. "So what if I apologize, I won't submit to your idea of me marring Kahn." my voice was firm and almost apathetic, it was like standing before an audience in the theatre and you had to speak loud enough that even the last row would hear you perfectly.

"How dare you talk about me like of some trash!" Kahn was standing, his hands into fists.

"Kahn, please let her be." my mother held one his fist in her hand, trying to calm him down. "Just what made you think, that I would love to marry you?" I broke of eye contact with Kahn to look at my father "That I would marry anyone?"

"Kahn's family has always been friends with ours, you should be happy that he was okay with you, he treated you like a sister and this is how you thank him? Who else would want something like you?"

I staggered back at his words, I hadn't expected them to think like that about me and I felt stomach clench inside of me. Khan seemed very happy with the course of directions this conversation was going. "That's right, what kind of man would like to have something thrown away, something so dirty like you? It was out of my love to your family and you that I agreed upon this marriage, but now you can forget this!"

"I'm sorry uncle, but this too much for me to bear!" he stomped out of the room but before he could close the door I laughed hard and it made him stop.  What a farce, theater worthy.
