Chapter 15: Friends
last night: not the usual drunkard
Aarons POV
Yesterday, the girl was at some friends home, where she had stored some "stuff" as she had said, which later turned out to be a huge amount of alcoholic drinks.
I noticed the girl running up and down in front of the study, but I continued to ignore her, if she wanted something she would tell me later, or not... I didn't care anyway.
Agh, I was pathetic, here I was saying that I don't care, the other way around, I do nothing but concentrate on her, I hear every step (it have been 48 till now), and heartbeat and breath perfectly.
And at night I would look at her, like she was some kind of treasure I had to keep an eye on, or like I had turned into freak, just imagine someone watching you at sleep with a smile on his face. Those memories that keep coming at me, things I had already forgotten, taunted me in my dreams. I just didn't get it, the feelings for this girl were confusing and irritating. It definitely wasn't love or any feeling in this direction, maybe it was my human instinct, to protect a girl.
The girl was singing, once in German, than English, then Indian, and then Japanese and Chinese and whatnot, it was funny to listen to her, she had an unexpectedly pleasant voice, and a funny accent. And there were delicious smells from different seasonings and fish, meat and vegetables.
As her singing and humming stopped, I went out to her, to find her on the table, with a mountain of finger food and bottles. "What are you doing girl?" I asked her, sitting on the chair in front of her.
"Kala, my name is Kala, not girl." she put a glass in front of me, and gestured to the bottles on the side. Bacardi, Vodka, Tequila, Beer, Vine, and other liquors as well as juices. She pulled her knees to her chest and looked all sulky in her own full glass. My eyes caught some Scotch and purred some in my glass.
"Where did you get those?"
"Mostly presents, some I bought during the last 3 months, we would celebrate new year a day beforehand, since I would be stuck with my family on the 31 to 1. But now I'm alone anyway." again she looked sulky.
"So, you plan to get drunk now?" I asked her, kind of annoyed, I had no need of drunk girl in here and she smelled of alkohol already.
"Don't worry I can hold my liquor. And you better not think of taking advantage me, got it."
I raised an eyebrow at her, while I ate some spring rolls. She was already damn drunk.
"Is it good?" she looked from the spring rolls up to me. "Mhh" was all I replied.
"mhh?! you know, you should praise me from to time, I'm doing my best here after all!"
"Ah, you are not bad." it was silent for a while, she just kept staring at me and then "hiccup, bah I feel sick." she suddenly became pale, I stood up and got some water with ice cubes for her, and a slice of toast. "Here, make sure not to throw up." I opened the balcony door, and the cold wind wafted in.
"Hey, why where you there, four years ago?" she suddenly asked looking straight in my eyes.
"Where should I have been four years ago?"I asked back not knowing what she meant.
"In the warehouse, with the children that were kidnapped. I was there too, it was in my police record as well. So why where you there?" The sudden change in conversation suprised me.
"I don't know wha..." "Liar." she interrupted me, looking somewhat pissed. Alcohol was no good for her. But she dissmised the matter shaking her head her eyes unfocused. "Say, do you believe in god?" she asked out of the blue.
"What is that for a question?"
"It's because you exist, if something like you exists than there should at least be a god up there, right?" she mused. "Don't know, I'm too old, and I've seen too much to answer such a thing. What about you?"
"I believe that there is a god up there, but I also believe that it's useless to rely on him."
"Useless to rely on a god? Should a kid be saying this?" This was honestly the first and last time for her to drink something in my apartment, having strange discussions wasn't the way I wanted my evenings to be.
"You know, god powers are restrained, he can give a soul, he can take it back, and he can move the wind with his breath. No actually he can't. So once you are here in this world, you can only talk to him, but he can't help you, it's something I found out long ago."
"You are being weird, stop drinking." I uselessly tried to use my aura but it was no use, she was too "normal" still too much of a human, not to mention drunk.
"I remembered you, your face is really pretty, so when I saw you there, I thought an angel had appeared. Wearing a black coat, a white blouse, I thought you would take back my soul."
"I thought you had amnesia or something?"
She chuckled at that "Amnesia? Don't joke with me, my head works just fine, better than I want it to, but telling people that I had forgotten makes it simpler for them to communicate with me. And it saves me, from false pity." She chuckled drinking another shot of Vodka. "It saves you from beeing tagged a loony too! All you need is some good acting, I'm almost as good as you or Clover." she laughed some more, her head rolling from one side to the other.
"What makes you think that Clover and I are acting?" What the hell was with this girl?
"I saw you on the graveyard, the way you moved, the way you talked, the way people around you behave, it's all an acting of courtesy, the one I pull when I want people around me to back off quietly." she smiled mysteriously at me, her eyes again clearly saying I got you figured out. My hands began to itch, I hated this look of her, and it made me to want to gouge out her eyes.
But before I got even the chance to reply she stood up and went out the balcony. Sitting on the brink and looking up to the sky. Eric and Luna followed her outside, while I leaned against the door frame, waiting for her to say something even more annoying. "Want to push me down?" she said it with a chuckle. She was doing this way too much already. "You are way too talkative today." I replied dryly.
"Mallow" she whispered, I held my breath, where had she heard that name, her face had crocked smile on, but then she looked up like she had said nothing.
"A shooting star!!" she pointed up to the sky and the second I looked up, she lost her balance.
I just caught a glimpse of her feet in the air. Ran to her place and saw her falling further down, I wanted to jump and catch her, it wouldn't have been a problem. But the growl that came out of her chest told me she would transform now, in midair, and I waited for it to happen. There was no screaming or restraining it, it took a while, but she changed gradually, real claws and fangs, her clothes bursted because of the massive growing of her fur and muscles, before she reached the second floor it was over. Not the halfway transformed, but a real complete werewolf landed gallantly on his paws.
Her fur shimmering in a strange cold red, her eyes stood out with their silvery shine and even in this form, she had a high and mighty attitude. She looked around herself, confused and feeling cornered, others had come out as well taking a look at this stupid dog, who would transform in midair, and in the city. It was a good idea, to let werewolves live together...
After a few seconds she, suddenly jumped and began to run, it took me a bit by surprise but I also jumped down, landing easily on my feet, and followed her. She was smaller than any of normally would be, but still bigger than a dog, this would turn out problematic if someone saw her.
Soon I realized the direction she was heading to, it was, thank goodness, a small park that would be empty around this time of the day. Still in my human form I kept running after her, I would corner her once she was inside the park, in a place where no one could see us.
It took us only minutes, to get there, and I caught my first chance and jumped at her, pinning her head down, ramming my knee into her chest. "You better turn back now, girl, before you make me do it for you." she didn't fight me, but also didn't obey me either, a sudden howl came out of her chest, and for the split of a second where I was distracted, she escaped my grip and tried to rip out my throat.
