A/N
Read please?
So I’m thinking of some changes for WHC. I’m thinking of A) Changing the title – From We’re Called Halfies to Stranded (as in DNA strands) or something of the like. I’d like suggestions, but I don’t really know what. So let me know what you think. Your input is important!
Secondly, I’m thinking of changing Felixia’s name. I’m not entirely sure, as I’m quite fond of the name but at the same time, it’s difficult to constantly type. And I’m sick of that red little squiggle underneath her name. So does anyone have any suggestions? Let me know in the comments : )
Also, I really, really want reads. I’d like this story to become well known and despite loving all of my current followers (especially those who constantly vote and comment [looking at you there JennyBaldwin :D] I really want this story to become big. This story is my baby :D Does anyone know of ways to make this story become bigger? Other than the huge number of ridiculous tags I’ve got going on.
Sorry it’s taken a while guys! You know when you get into those writing moods and nothing can hold you back? I’ve not had that for since last Monday :P
So thank you for reading this, and I hope you enjoy the Story! It’ll be really heating up from now on.
‘till next time,
Scrempt xx :D

I don’t even get a chance to respond to Leona before we can hear the security personals making their way up the stairs. Our sensitive hearing can hear them all the way down at the base level, Sub-One. They’re not exactly trying to be quite, but all the same we can hear them. We barely have time to exit the overly-bright room when we can hear them up on the ground level. Only three levels between us.
Leona’s voice breaks the sound of the personal’s footsteps. “Felixia! Where do we go? We can’t go down. We’ll be tagged and bagged if we do”
As we race down the hall to the stairwell, an idea solidifies just as we reach the doorway to the stairs. Throwing it open I lean out of the way as Leona pushes past me. Pulling the door close I grab onto Leona’s arm just as she makes her move to go down the stairs. “Uh, Mane-Brain. Where do you think you are you going?”
Before I can even think of an argument against myself I draw a huge breath. Time to let Leona know the plan.
“Leo, Shut up. Stop panicking,” I hold up a hand before she can interrupt. I point upward, “Up, Mane-Brain. We go up. They’re coming up, we can’t go down. Just listen!” Leona stills for a moment, listening to the beat of the Academy approved boots on the stairs. When she turns back a look of acceptance has fallen on her face. She looks back at me as though waiting for orders, nodding at me to speak. I usher her up, jogging behind her as I speak.
“We go up. We’ll make for the roof and then jump. We’ll move from the rooftops out of the city and up and over the gate. We’ll come back and search for Blaze another day. Let’s just go home and regroup with Reece, BloodRose and Ragamuffin. I don’t want to be here anymore. This city is just awful. Now hurry up!”
“Over the gate? How do we go over the gate when it reaches so high? Whiskers, be reasonable. Let’s just steal some Gate Marshal’s uniforms. Sneak out how we came in. We’ve got that pot of coloured skin. We’ll put more on, walk out bold as brass. We’ll come back another day. Maybe when we’re better rested. And yeah, let’s get the others. More the merrier right? And their gifts will help us!”
We’re up on level 23 now. I call out for Leona to stop so I can check if we’re high up enough to start running on top of the rooftops.
“Wait here. I’ll be right back!”
I probably shouldn’t of said that to her. But I didn’t know what was about to happen. So of course I said it to her.
Not looking back, I ran out of the stairwell and run down the dimly lit hall to the giant window that serves to give a view of the city.
Skidding to a stop I just barely manage to not go crashing through the thin glass. My breath fogs up the glass and I pull down one of my sleeves to clear off the foggy mist. We’re too far down. Even though we’re only two metres shorter than the closet building, it’s still too high. Puffing out my chest, I let go of the captured air and push off from the window, backtracking the way I came.
I get there too late. Leona’s holding open the door, and she’s paying too much attention to me and not the staircase behind her. She doesn’t see the red arms with black gloves enclose around her waist, trapping her to the tall man behind her. She doesn’t fight, She doesn’t scream. She just looks at me, glaze hardened by the knowledge of what’s to come.
I know my face must give away the hopelessness I feel. But seeing her resolution makes me straighten my face to give away nothing.
“Get to the roof” That’s all she says. Not “Save me” not “Help.” She’s telling me to save myself. Just like Blaze. This is exactly the same actually. Rebels, surrounded by the City’s loyal slaves, ready to kill a person twice their worth. Leona and Blaze, telling me to go on and be free and safe. We must they always save me? They’re infinitely better than I and yet it’s always me doing the running. The surviving. Never them. Only me.
A superficial thought comes into my head
Who’s going to light the candle?
Shock runs all over my body as I watch Leona disappear into a sea of red arms and black gloves. I can’t see her anymore, but I can hear her. My sensitive ears, still tuned into her voice, can clearly hear what she’s saying.
“For god’s sake, will you just run! Run Felexia, RUN!”
“I promise I’ll come back Leona! I promise!”
By the time I’ve shouted my vow to Leo, the security drones have seen me. The man at the front motions towards me, gesturing for them to capture me as well.
That gesture galvanises me into action. Pivoting on my toes, I run back down the hallway. Pulling my other sleeve down and my outer shirt over my head, I lean forward and into the glass. It shatters, leaving me to fall down twenty three stories in a raincloud of glass shards.
