wyatt watched as adelaide kept her blue eyes shielded from the pictures flashing on the television screen.
as a matter of fact, he wasn't focusing on the movie at all.
he was focusing on her.
he was tempted to grab her hand and assure her that it was just a film, that the ghosts dancing across the device were just pictures. but he didn't. he was scared of her reaction.
adelaide jumped from the loud noise that jack had made, a girly screech that had the rest of the people laughing. she heard the low chuckle emit from wyatt's throat, and for some reason, she wanted to hear it again and again.
the thought made her cheeks burn.
wyatt let his brown eyes flicker across the features of the girl next to him, resting his curl covered head on his palm. he wanted to turn off the film so he could catch a glimpse of her gorgeous eyes once more.
deep down, wyatt actually wanted the horror picture off because he hated seeing adelaide scared.
he wanted nothing more than to wrap his arms around her figure and tell her that ...
it was all going to be okay.
adelaide let her head fall back against the couch cushion, skull dropping on its side. her eyelids moved, revealing the gorgeous orbs.
her gaze was fixated on a random spot, a small crinkle in the fabric of wyatt's shirt. her figure flinched from a loud noise, noticing sophia clinging to jaeden from her peripheral vision.
she wanted to be held like that.
wyatt was still fixated on adelaide, senses picking up on how her flinching caused her body to move closer to him. his eyes dropped to her clenched fists before moving back to her face.
he swallowed the small lump in his throat, ducking his head down next to the blonde girl's ear.
"are you okay?"
"i'm fine. totally fine."
the two voices were below a whisper, only the people apart of the exchange able to pick up on what they were saying.
adelaide looked up, gaze locking with wyatt's. she didn't move away, she didn't look away.
neither did he.
she involuntarily jumped from the horrific noises falling from the speakers, gaze dropping to the couch cushions.
"you can go into the other room if you'd like. i can make up an excuse." when adelaide heard wyatt's voice, along with his offer, a grateful sigh left her lips.
"thank you."
"anytime."
adelaide was quick to leave, nearly running into the bedroom and shutting the door behind her. she attempted to calm her breathing, to relax her shaking frame.
she couldn't. adelaide wasn't breathing at an erratic speed from fear of the film.
